Great Post this was very helpful for me. Other than getting the reverse lever in place everything was very smooth.
2 Thumbs up !

Thanks SrxSpec for a very very helpful post!
I did a track and gear change last week!
It went pretty well!
Just took a little time to figure out the reverse linkage!

great post and info/pics.
i'm just running into a bit of a snafu with the revers shift linkage (of course).
i have it reinstalled, mostly and cover fastened.
but when i lower into reverse, the lower linkage rubs against the footwell..
i'm assuming this is not right, so something is goobered up?
pull it apart, try again???
edit: i tried it a couple more times, and the only way it slides together completely...is as is...with the slight rubbage against the footwell... dunno what i'm missing..
when i do pull the lever i do hear some gear sliding/clunking sorta noises.

i have no idea if you made a mistake on reassembly. I do know that the linkage rubs even on news sleds. I made a dent in my footwell and ground the linkage for better clearance.

Rotax,
I had the same problem with the lower reverse linkage rubbing against the footwell!
I made a small hole in the footwell while the chaincase cover was still out!
Problem solved!

i can't believe a yamaha would get by with fit n finish like that!
i'll also look at my buddies today and see what his does..

Bump.
Another thank you for well written instructions. Just finished installing a 121" Cobra on my 08 RTX. If we ever get snow I might get a chance to try it.
Amazing putting that chain case cover back on. Won't go for 3 hours then it slides in there all of a sudden like it never came out.

When I went to change my track, the bolt that holds the bottom gear on was broke and rolling around in the chain case, sled is an 09 xtx with 535 miles on it,good thing I was in the case or that would of been bad!!!Still cant believe this happened!!

That looks like hell. Anyone have an idea of who around the Seattle area might be the best to contract something like that out to? I have a powerclaw for my Nytro, just no time to put it in or the new steering post.

When installing the driver axle, I thought I read somewhere that one side was supposed to tightened before the other. Dident see that mentioned in the article. Is that still something that needs to be done ??
Thanks also for the very nicely detailed instructions.
