Gap Flasher Issues

So when I plug it into the computer but don’t open the software and try to connect my phone it connects to the flasher no problem. It went through all this updating of files and registered my phone to the flasher. But as soon as I plug into sled I get no flashing of lights and cannot connect. So it has to either be an issue with the connection at the sled maybe.
Your key is on right?

I don’t have a wiring diagram for this plug. But when I meter the white/red wire and the black wire I have 12.36 volts there.

Hi All

Just got back from vacation, sorry for the delay.

Odometer rises at an alarming rate

The odometer value will rise significantly fast if there's an issue with the speed sensor. The typical scenario would be;

-Engine runs
-Speed = 0 kph
-Drive the sled, RPM rises, hour counter increases, etc
-Cluster should see variable speed but its stuck at 0
-It raises the odometer value by a large amount at regular intervals. They have implemented such a code...

This can occur under the following circumstances:
-Speed sensor is defective
-Speed sensor is disconnected
-Wiring issue
-Magnets issue

In other words, this is the intended behaviour under these circumstances. There will also be an fault code on the cluster when this happens.

Max RPM

Max RPM behaviour on Stock cluster;

2017-2018; The max RPM value resets with an ignition cycle.

2019; The max RPM value is cleared by the user. View the Max RPM value, press on the lower right button and it will go down to 0 or the current value if the engine is running. To our knowledge, these instructions were not added to the owner's manual.

Upgraded, flashed cluster; Regardless of the year, it behaves like the 2019 version. View the Max RPM value, press on the lower right button and it will go down to 0 or the current value if the engine is running.

Yamaha06 Dave will sort it for sure.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Thank you for addressing the questions and conserns that some members had!;)!

For mine with more miles..I never saw a fault code??? Oh well..guess I gotta live with it...not that big of a deal.

You're welcome!

Pretty much all of them we saw had a fault code but quite possible that it wont trigger one. Keep an eye on the speedometer which is the key element here...

This explains why my kms jumped by 250 quickly when I forgot to plug in the speed sensor after chain case maintenance...

I did get a code but I forget what it was.

So what are we looking for on the speedometer..a fault code?? And if we see one..what do we do??

Speedometer will stay at 0 kph / mph even thought the sled is moving. Fault code will depend on the sled but trust me, you'll know...

Afterwards, its a matter of diagnosing the issue itself. Check connections, wires for damages etc.

@GAP Innovation @Turbo Dynamics
I couldn't find an official flasher troubleshooting thread so posting here. Broke down and purchased a PC since I sent the 1 PC in the house off to college. Now when trying to update my TD flasher to Build B0775, it does not complete and says Memory 5 Not Programmed Correctly. I believe my flasher remains at B0588 although not sure what if any negative effects this Firmware Update fail will have. Any help?
