I felt like the Gates gripped better overall but didn't last long.

8jp belts for me....don't last, lots of belt dust, once they get glazed....they slip.
Gates 40C4313 grips better, lasted me all last season on asphalt, testing clutch setups, ton off hard off-trail and 1,400 miles of on trail this winter season.

I run the Ultimax XS825 (which is the 8JP length) on my turbo Viper. I know it's not the Sidewinder, and the clutching is a tad different. But I've got over 2k of hard riding on the belt so far. Just recently had to adjust the clutch for belt wear. But no blown belts, very little dust, and it grips really well.

I'm going to give that 825 in the newer style a try next year as my spare and see how it performs. I'm guessing very similar in grip vs the gates carbon.

3,932 miles on original belt. Definately more dust on my Winder vs. wifes Viper but yet to blow a belt on either machine. Everything stock on both.im just looking for any thoughts on the gates carbon belt 40c4313 vs Yamaha 8jp , how does the gates perform ?

Standard Gates or Carbon Viper Gates? Both are G-Force Belts

So you have a belt blower too? 1800 miles on a 8JP for me and I ripped it in half.

Yep appears that way.
Dalton black orange and heavy hitters.
Was thinking on getting the alignment tool and see what it says.
I had already visually aligned it and had to take out spacers to make it look right.
No spacers now.

3000 miles and I am on my 7th belt 5 8JPs with ridiculous amounts of dust and 1 8DN all failed. The 8JP all ripped to shreads blown to bits while the 8DN just snapped in half it was almost still whole.

Sounds like the drivens binding ,or the center -center is to far .if you snapped an 8dn .3000 miles and I am on my 7th belt 5 8JPs with ridiculous amounts of dust and 1 8DN all failed. The 8JP all ripped to shreads blown to bits while the 8DN just snapped in half it was almost still whole.
