HID headlights

Well I finally installed my HID'S and everything went good, they sure are bright. One thing I was wondering is when I give my sled a little gas I noticed the light output vibrates a bit. Is everyones like this? My retainer rings that hold the bulbs in place are real tight, and the headlight housing seems tight, so I don't if its just normal for them to kind of bounce like that from the vibrations from the sled.
Mine is the same way.

Yes, that is normal. Both my Sled Start HID kit on my Apex and my Rocztoyz HID kit on my Viper do this. What you will find is that once you are riding it is much less noticeable than when sitting still idling. I also think that they become more "stable" once fully "warmed up".

Once you ride the sled at night all you will be thinking about is "how did I ever ride at night before with standard headlights"!

Here are some pictures of the Rocztoyz HID kit in my new '15 Viper RTX DX. It was truly plug & play as advertised. Very nice kit. I have yet to test it out on the trail but the lights are bright as heck in my garage!

The way you've done that wiring and positioning your ballasts...Mine looks like a total mess.

I have severe OCD and I am the most anal person you will ever meet. I am actually completely serious. LOL!

When I installed them in my Vector, I was amazed. Those HID lights would outshine the headlights of the person in front of me on the trail. People love riding behind me because they shine like the sun! lol

You should come do mine!

I would if you lived a little closer to me!

Taking the entire hood apart and putting everything back together is a bit time consuming. Installing the HID kit itself is super simple. You just remove the stock bulbs and install the HID bulbs then secure the ballasts and wiring harnesses. The wiring harnesses (one for each side) simply plug into the two headlight electrical sockets that were connected to the original bulbs. It is really that simple. No wiring required whatsoever.

At first I thought I could do the install without taking the hood apart but access to the bulb socket retaining clips is problematic. Not to mention my desire to mount the ballasts in a nice clean & secure way rather than simply stuffing everything in place and wrapping wire ties around everything. My OCD will not allow me to do something like that. I am someone who wants everything perfect even if it is something that nobody will ever see later.

Has anyone found a way to stop the wiggle in the lights? I just installed my sledstart HID's today and the right side has the annoying wiggle while the left side does not wiggle at all. Everything is tight. I am guessing the wiggle comes from the actual bulb needing to be loose so that when you switch from low to high it can be sucked in. I would think if they were going to wiggle that both would do it and not just 1 of them. So maybe there is a tolerance issue with some and not others. I dunno. Do any of you have more of a wiggle from one or the other or do they both seem to be the same? I also noticed the color temp is not exactly the same on both. The one on the left has a warmer tone then the one on the right. Not a lot of difference but when running pointed at a wall or something I can see the difference. Not really noticeable out in the open or when riding. They do seem a little brighter then the stock bulbs but not anything crazy like some imply. The main change I think is more the color temp which I do think makes it easier to see. Maybe it's just me being used to bright cree LED's. I use $100 1000 lumen Nitecore flashlight daily and think that maybe it has spoiled me lol. I have a weekend trip coming up in 2 weeks and will be doing some night riding then. I hope they impress me as much as they seem to impress you all. I just wish I had a solution to the darn strobe light wiggle.

Give Kurt at Sled Start a call. He is s great guy and a TY member. The "wiggle" is normal from my experience but it should be the same on both lights and the color should also be the same.

The HID's from Sled Start that I had on my Apex had the "wiggle" that was noticeable when revving the engine while the sled was sitting still. It was not noticeable while the sled was in motion.

My HID kit from Rocz Toyz that is installed in my Viper has the same "wiggle" when the sled is sitting still. High beam is worse than low beam. however it is not noticeable on either beam once the sled is in motion.

Thanks Dave. I'll try to get with him and see what he says. Maybe they will grow on me. I hate to take them out cuz it was hell trying to get those darn retainer rings back on. 2 long screw drivers and allot of time + colorful words lol. The color temp thing is not that big of a deal as its close but not exact. But that wiggle well it looks like I'm hosting a disco party. If both did the little dance it would at least look more uniformed then just the one.

Rocztoyz includes a pvc pipe with notches to put over the retaining clips. 5 seconds per headlight. All you do is push in and turn so simple. Plug n play just got easier.!!!

I didn't receive that handy tool with my Rocz Toyz HID kit. It sure would have been nice to have though. Those retaining clips are a real PIA!

wow that would have saved me like 2hrs lol. :( If I need to change anything I think I might look at making something like that. Do you have a picture of the tool you could share?
