How many vipers with starters going bad?

Should we change gear or other parts in prevention before breaking?

No. We don't know if the replacement gear would be any better than what you have in there already. Some maybe are good from factory. In other words we don't know anything so best to just ride and hope for best. That's what I have been doing for 7000 smiles!

At least my dealer said he would cover me under warranty. They don't have too seeing my sleds warranty was only one year and I put a turbo in the sled. I was riding up in the Sudbury area and they tried to find me someone up there with the parts but no luck. They seemed to understand that its a problem with the sled and felt really bad for me that my trip got cut short.

Mine went at the dealership today 422 miles

Hey man noooo worries. I'm thankful for all the info on the area you gave me. Its really nice up there. The local people we meet were super nice to us. Everyone tried to help when they saw we were in a bit of a spot. I would definitely head up that way again sometime...who knows maybe we can even hook up? ;)!

Anyone with the evo flash have a starter issue?

I hate reading this thread. It makes me cringe everytime I start my sled.

Mine went two weeks ago 3 days prior to my week long backpack trip across the UP. Needless to say, I was freaking out. I called too many dealerships to count on Tuesday and Wednesday tring to find someone who could salvage my trip. Babbitts said they could get the part and repair it next day, but they were on the wrong side of the state, but they became option one. When they opened on Wednesday (closed every Tuesday) Hackers said they could have the starter shipped next day and get the repair done on Friday. Since our trip started with 2 days in Grayling, this was perfect! They covered it under warranty, didn't give me any trouble what so ever and went way out of their way to ensure I was happy. Its obviously something Yamaha recognizes as a problem! Hackers was very good to me and they deserve a shutout and official attaboy. Thanks guys for saving my vacation!
