I just got my new Sidewinder, & couldn't be more excited. It's my first turbo, and my first "hypersled".
I'am however jealous & confused of all the people already changing exhaust & reflashing, & re clutching...is the sled "that slow"?
Maybe I'm just getting old

Who wouldn't want to pick up 10-15 sled lengths?

I saw that video...that's the "jealous" part! My wife would kick me straight in the ba$$s if I spent money on upgrades, on a sled I have 0 miles on

The great part about these sleds is that after a season we can upgrade the power for $500 -$1000 and have a new sled for the new season! The problem is once you get hooked on the turbo crack it's tough to get off it and know when to say when. I'm coming off of a 230 hp cat and I was looking for a stock 120 mph sled with full warranty and plenty of power to make me smile. I believe this new Sidewinder is that sled but i would be lieyin if I told you I wasn't wanting a tune and exhaust already!

Every sled I have bought new I always broke it in Showroom Stock nothing touched except adjustments like bars and shocks. At least 500mi. That way you know what you are buying for mods and if they actually did anything. Some of these guys are riding and racing already. Guarantee every Tom,Dick and Harry is going to want to line up with all you Sidewinder guys to see what they are all about. Everyone here hopefully wants that outcome to be a Yamaha win. Till you have a few mi on can always say just breaking it in but eventually that excuse wont work. Then you want any edge you can find! Hard to believe anyone would buy a Sidewinder to do work or just sightsee.

I'm sure there are lots of guys who just buy new sleds and ride them stock. Most of them aren't on TY though

First you must realize that i'm not the only one with OCD on this site. Every guy on here is extremely passionate about our sledding. We all have a little Tim Allen Tool Time in us. Secondly, i just want to hear the motor & adjust the chain easier...now if that happens to come with more power...who am i to say no...I just got my new Sidewinder, & couldn't be more excited. It's my first turbo, and my first "hypersled".

I'm gonna call my exhaust "my $1000 chain tensioner device"

Not jealous. Extremely eager for snow! None of my riding buds bought a SW. I'll be 1st as often as I want to. 120MPH STOCK! Hell the BTX busts 100MPH. This thing is a money pit already between LEDs, skis, luggage, seat jack etc and I haven't even paid for it yet!

I have no desire whatsoever to mod this sled.Every sled I have bought new I always broke it in Showroom Stock nothing touched except adjustments like bars and shocks. At least 500mi. It really is great that Yamaha built us a sled that reacts so well to inexpensive performance mods. Equally, it is great that Yamaha built us the fastest sled out of the box. Period.
It isn't that I'm old (I'm not), it isn't that I don't have a competitive streak (I certainly do) don't have the brains to do it (I put $3,500 in go fast goodies on my Nytro). I just happen to think that 205hp is more than enough for me.
When we ride, we ride hard. We have off the cuff races all the time. I simply don't care if I win it or not. It's fairly obvious no stock sled is going to beat it (in most cases anyway), so being beat by a modded sled is apples and oranges.
I am not dissing folks who build the sled up, as I said, it's great Yami gave us such a great platform to start from. Just remember there ARE guys who are more than satisfied with the output of this thing, and are more than happy to beat it like a government mule (wow.. maby I am I am old).
No disrespect intended Mr C, but the way I ride my stock 205hp sled won't be different from the way someone rides their 276hp sled.... in a non-sight seeing manner.
Very impressed with all you guys are doing with this. Keep up the good work!
