Kingers BOOSTED garage....

Removing the water pump was easy. 3-5mm Allen screws and it slides out (watch the gear in the block!) disassembly was more difficult. Popping the front cover off you can remove the inner part of the waterpump to expose the impeller.

Here is what my WP looked like on the new built motor:

Now everything happens for a reason right? Well I’m sure this surface rust wouldn’t have done much harm but maybe Murphy is giving me a break and when compared to my old one... I’m glad I’m rebuilding the WP.

Parts are on order. Found a kit on eBay and will use that. Hopefully it’s quality parts. Should be in on Tuesday. More to come....

While I wait for parts I thought I would swap TBs. my old ones were no problems and set up to feed my BOV, I figure this eliminates another variable should things not fire up perfectly.

This is my original 06 TBs, look at the clamps:

now look at the built 07:

I never had one iota off issue with the 06 so I will leave it as is. On boosted motors its good to yamabond the boots to the head.

And head:

I cleaned all the old yamabond off and got them sparkly:

Next up I looked at my old TBs and found this kink in the vacuum lines! It explains my erratic idle that I mistakenly thought was from my fuel controller being out of tune:

I rerouted the lines and found this 90 degree bend and smoothed them all out!

This was a good find! Also found some pinched wires. Again maybe lucky Murphy is on vacation!

More to come....

Winder down again so Ape getting all the attention. Trip on Thursday! I need to do about 2 weeks of work to get this thing running in 3 days!

Parts finally arrived, new oil pan and WP rebuild kit... let’s get to gettn!

I don’t know about you but having a deadline usually helps me getting repairs done. Some of my fastest( not always best) work gets done this way.

No doubt. Did an engine swap the week of our TY Ride last year. Other years I would find a broken suspension piece or exhaust usually 2 days before the ride. Never missed a ride.
I am sure you won't miss your ride as well. :sled1:

Waterpump rebuild...I struggled to clean the impeller and replace that seal but I got it (right one) had to let it soak in vinegar/salt all night. Next time I would buy a new impeller... live and learn, oil seal on left is my mystery oil leak!?! Grrrr. Install with water as lubricant per manual:

Next install the bearing flush with top.

Next is the mechanical seal, clean anything with brake clean then dry. I froze the seal overnight, manual calls for Yamabond on sides, I ordered yamabond but its taking forever to get here so I used 3 Bond 1211 which is the exact same:

Next CAREFULLY use a 1” socket and tap the frozen seal into place. There is a special tool for this but I couldn’t find one easily. Tool # YM33221, however the socket worked just fine and being froze helped, I also warmed the WP gently with a torch. Wiped off excess and voila new seal installed!

Next up is the C clip, this was tough because you compress the impeller into the seal then the C clip holds it tight from hitting the housing:

Finally put the new O rings on and cover. Back at the motor the oil pan has to come off and slide the WP into the receiving slot in the oil pump:

Now you’re ready for the oil pan:

My new pan looks nice!

.... and back in the sled she goes:

Now put Humpty Dumpty back together! Going to fire tomorrow if I’m lucky!!

The supercharger adds so many cumbersome steps (yes I am complaining about a supercharger lol)

How I left it for the night...

Should get it back together today after work!!

Jesse I see the orange pumpkin in the background. Just a suggestion I would find another building for that Sidewinder to collect dust so no more Karma will contaminate your current build. Good luck can’t wait to see the end results.

Too LATE! Gah! I think there is a air lock in the oil pickup! Blowing oil out the top of the tank!

Trying this and some pressure to the oil tank:

I had to abandon all plans for mods including the Motec, just to break in this motor and go back to what I know and familiar with. It also looks like "Big Papa" that I was going to give to my Dad to ride but he can't so I will enjoy the warmth of a large windy for once LOL. Hopefully the trip goes well and this unit is leak free and reliable. I may mess with the motec yet this year but otherwise I will have to wait until summer and then the sled will get completely updated new tunnel, add the turbo, unique suspension, Motec and more badazz looks with lots of Carbon... ;)

After all of this.... I REALLY hope your ride is trouble free.

Thanks bud! I hope so too, people are like "Its going to be cold" I'm like if this sled runs all weekend, and I hear 4CYL sounds again, after the SW deal, I am going to be in heaven! Fingers crossed this is a LOT of work in a short time, I had to have screwed something up.

Found a coolant leak and was able to get that fixed, I didn't bleed the coolant yet but it may not need it. I filled it propped up and very slowly waiting every 2-3 seconds for bubbles to stop making sounds. I'll be testing it shortly on snow!
