Kyster I would whole heartedly recommend max16 for trail riding, I have around 3,000 kms on the full max16 setup this year and it’s a scream instant throttle response way better than stock or powertrail. My son and I both added bill mohr spring in front of skids and remove the transfer bar in the back, instant transfer as good as a skidoo 850 or Polaris all day long. Big difference it will still lift skiis off the ground when an 850 doo is rung right out for a quarter mile, that really gets doo guys going when you ski wheelie past them doing a top speed run. Yamacat chassis still handles set up like this as long as you have removed and burnt the tuner skiis.
Fuel economy is close to stock or better but huge improvement in smiles per mile.
Unrelated but encouraging my son tore his chaincase apart out of paranoia before we go to northern Quebec again, second upper gear bushing is still tight after 16,500 kms on powertrail and now max17 spinning a 1.75” backcountry track, it will keep the skiis in the air past 100 mph from a dead start. We have been running pennzoil 75w90 full synthetic gear oil in the cases since 2018, he is young and fit and rides the crap out of it both on and off trail so he is a good tester. He says the fat girl can hang a pretty bad beating on his buddies backcountrys anytime he wants. Don’t however ask him about primary clutch rollers, he has spent a ton on rollers. Waiting for word from Justin Prevost on some super tough ones he is testing.

I have the Jukebox tunes and have only every used MaxSpool16 with Stock Muffler or MaxSpool 17 with Trail muffler.....I don't see a reason to not use those tunes lol but I guess I might try lower tunes on the big ride. More to ensure I make it to the next fuel station lol I don't think I could bring myself to putting 87 in her though!

I believe it and others have said the same thing, just personally don't think I could ever put anything other than 91 in there. If I put 87 I would feel like I'm feeding her a $1 hamburger but with 91 I feel like I feeding her a nice juicy steak! (It's all in my head, I know, lol)I run 87 with ECO all the time, the tune is rated for it.

Sorry to derail this thread earlier.
I also love my Sidewinder. I'd love it even more if I weren't part of this site or the SW Facebook groups. I now have a sense of paranoia that I won't make it home while out riding.
I swapped with a buddy on his 900 Enduro, and I didn't like it as much as I thought I would, so I'll be sticking with the SW.
My warranty is up at the end of March. I'm looking forward to making a few tweaks for next season!

My 15 Turbo Viper was fun, my 17 LTX LE Hurricane Winder is awesome, and just picked up a 20 XTX SE that I'll probably run the stock muffler tunes on. I love the Cat/Yamaha combo. Sure there's some dumb engineering in there but overall these sleds have been great to me.

Last time we were pulled over there were 5 of us riding. Two wardens pulled up and kinda blocked the trail in their pickup, notice I said kind of, I know I could have gone around them and typically I would have! The made us shut down our machines and were walking along and pulling everyone's drivers license from us.
I was second in line and would have never stopped if I was leading the group, but my law abiding buddy stopped for them, for whatever reason I'll never know (my brain does not work that way, when the lights come on the throttle goes down and its game on), anyway, the warden get to me and I give him my license, he looks at it and says, "Mike Knapp" he yelled out to his partner and said "were done here, give them all their license back". They let us go with no tickets! His partner was like "what/", so he said to his partner again "we're all done here, give them their license's back". I guess my reputation proceed me. Isn't that what they say? I have a reputation with law enforcement, is it good or bad? I'm not really sure, but in this case they didn't even bother writing us tickets.
We were running well over 100 and racing each other when they saw earlier us at another trail intersection, that is quite common for us it seems every time we go out. Some people will think that's just crazy I know, but that's just how we roll, always racing each other. I asked the Warden if he wanted to set up and see what my sled would really go past the gun at, because 100 wasn't near enough and laughed. Smart #*$&@ I know, I was pushing it but I had to see what he'd say. He laughed and declined, just told us slow down and be careful. TRUE STORY!

Yep understand that racing each other and doing well over 100.
How else does a trail rider/racer compare his sled set ups, if not against another. We call it testing Mike.
I think if all the riders have a bit of age on them ,it may help some! But your name is renowned in this sport for sure!
Probably figured if anybody can handle a fast sled it’s Mike Knapp! Cool story.

I'm jealous you guys are getting miles on the winders! Hilarious on the ticket! 56 OVER. LOL Ironically all my need for speed never been pulled over for speeding. I worry about drinking. Once I start drinking you might as well give me a 440. I drive like a grandma and usually only start a couple miles from where we are staying. I'm WAY more dangerous sober LOL.

Yes same here, in fact I know better them mixing alcohol with any of my motor sports.
Realized a long time ago that I need all of my functions at 100% for the way I enjoy that speed/adrenaline rush!
