I JUST WANTED TO THROW THIS OUT THERE TO GET OPINIONS ON THIS BELT / GEAR SET UP. I HAVE A 03 RX1 , STOCK 24/38 GEARING, HH CLUTCH KIT, AND 52 44 HELIX WITH THE SPRING SET AT 70. THIS COMBINATION WORKS GREAT BUT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, I WANT MORE. I AM THINKING ON A XS811 BELT WITH A 22 TOOTH GEAR AND THE SECONDARY SET AT 80. HOPEFULLY SOMEONE OUT THERE HAS TRIED THIS SETUP. :rocks:

I like the gear, i am going to a 22. I do not have all the other thinks you do. What jets do you have in the filter kit? May be some hp there to get?

First, DON'T YELL.

Second; bigger gears are better. 23/40 probably your best bet, same chain length and you have the freedom to try 22/40 and 24/40. You might also want to overdrive your clutches, otherwise it'll overrev on top end.

Sorry for the yelling Lazy. I'm glad to see you onboard with this one as I value all your experience as well as everyone elses. That xs811 belt is a 1/16 th inch wider than a stock belt and therefore almost comes to the top of the primary, but will not bottom out in the secondary. It's like a cheap form of overdrive and the best thing is your ramp profiles and weights all stay the same. I am running 170 jets and they seem towork good for me.Tried 165, but it did not run as strong. Just thought the 22 gear would get that heaveyweight rx1 moving a little easier.

Then you'll definitely need to space the helix out further from the secondary. If it can't get far enough down in the secondary, then it won't climb to the top of the primary. You'll also need to remove all the shims from the back of the secondary, possibly even change the bolts to something longer, otherwise it'll sit too high in the secondary and your primary will squeal at idle.

Check everything over very carefully with all the springs removed from the primary and secondary. Make sure that the belt will go everywhere it needs to.

Yes definaltey gear down at least one tooth you will pick up mph because that sled is overgeared and can't pull that gearing.

If you're going to run the XS811 belt you need to change the split collars in the clutch to setup the correct belt to sheave clearance.

Unless you have your sled hooking up like an animal I wouldn't gear down. Besides spinning more out of the hole you lose a little on top. When I had the 136 proaction in mine I went from the 24 top to the 23 and lost top end and traction out of the hole. Much better with the 24. My Cat skid on the other hand hooks awesome in almost any conditions so I'm going to try the 23 again. Without the right traction you won't see any gains. IMHO.

Mine was 3-4mph faster on top with the 24 tooth on radar at around 1500'.
I have the stock 51/43 helix cut for full shift out. Primary and Secondary sheaves are stock. Like I said with my new found traction using the T-cat skid I think I will try the 23 again this year.

Does the 23/40 gear set work better than the 22/38 and also is 80 good for the secondary or should I stick with the 70. Maybe this will be something I will have to experiment with.

In theory the 40 bottom gear will give less rolling resistance due to the larger diameter making it more efficient. As a point of reference I have the silver secondary spring wound to 90.
