Yep these posts are all sunshine pump....nobody knows.... then wish list is posted & Yam does little & everybody gets pissed. I stopped guessing after 2009. You have to understand R&D budgets have been cut big time no money no new products. As soon as this post runs down another will surface. Yam plays very close to the vest so don't fool yourself to thinking this & that...
FZR Waverunner is a 4-cylinder motor and it has an 18.5 gallon fuel tank which is needed on a 1.8 liter motor. No need for such a large engine in a sled unless it's for utility.ROCKRTX said:You say good HP! fzr wave runner motor is a 3 cylinder 1812cc supercharged 200 HP motor.
Because they typically make more torque vs a 4 cylinder of the same displacement. Unless your constantly running top speed or close to it, the horsepower and long legs of a 4 cylinder are not as useful in a snowmobile as a high torque, lighter, narrower 3 cylinder engine.bottlerocket said:Why do all you guys want a 3 cylinder?????
Yamaha needs to resurrect the SRX name in the shape of a 150hp class, direct port fuel injected, 3 cylinder 1200cc or less engine with Nytro-like rider forward but not so forward, 136" or XTX version 144", Apex-style wind protection, mono-shock rear, and Fox Air Floats all around. No turbo or supercharger needed, they know how to make NA HP.

You are right it a 4 cylinder....DOooo!,maybe my dealer mean 3 cylinder base on the fzr wave runner motor.Cut 1 cylinder and you still have 1359 cc motor with supercharger.
Anyway Yamaha is gone a need something similar if they want to keep up with other brand on the market.

If thats the case why is a RS Vector only like 10 lbs or so lighter than a APEX...

Also the 1050 motor is way newer by design then the genesis motor so if (big IF) they build a new motor it would and could be lighter then what we have now. I guess I'm just not that impressed with the 3 cylinder offerings from Yamaha or Ski-doo as far as feel, pull and smoothness are concerned. If they used a nitro motor to run with the apex it would be huge cc's and then what would the engine weigh. A 1300 - 1350 cc 3 cylinder does not sound so light IMHO..

i think he was referring to the engine. not the sled.
maybe yamaha should be like ski-doo and have 3 different engine packages for the same stinkin model!

Yamaha states that the RS Vector LTX weighs 566 lbs and APEX LTX in at 576 lbs if I'm not mistaken, so their isn't miuch weight difference in engines...I'd sacrafice 10 lbs of weight to get the "F1" 4 holer performance any day! my .02

The Fx nytro's 130 hp 3 cylinder engine weighs 10-15 lbs less then the 120 hp 3 cylinder . just by engine weights alone , and the 120 hp 3 cylinder weighs only 4 pounds less then the 150 hp 4 cylinder ..

Whatever the engine, the whole sled must be at least 500lbs dry. Plus the engine, should be a min of 170hp, with room to expand... There is no reason why they can't build that..

%00lbs could still be ok for handling, but man my 08 xp800 with electric start was way to light,it was all over the trails to,and even the rear end on my x package was not up to par vrs what they used to offer,ya a little off subject, but just to compare yammi to doo,at least there two smoke is to darn light jmo,but i had it for a year and a half. i do really like the 4 hole yammi has had,but the 3 hols does make good sense, and i would like to see some sort of blower system on it,just so they dont have to spin the motor up to much, just a wish list at this point.SledFreak said:Whatever the engine, the whole sled must be at least 500lbs dry.
