First post. Going to pull the trigger on a 2020 sidewinder S-TX GT (touring)
Meeting with the finance manager tomorrow. Salesperson spoke to manager and manager offered me a below cost "blow-out" deal. She says it's more money to put the sled in storage for fall 2121 then it is drastically reduce it.
I like 4 strokes and is the reason why I looked into Yamaha. I also have a 4-stroke 2019 FX SVHO Waverunner and a 4-stroke Polaris Touring ATV (Polaris really doesn't offer 4-stroke sleds). I'm getting a quote on a hybrid trailer from the company I bought my ATV trailer from. I planned on doing something in March but things are happening fast. More manuals, more oils/filters, AGM batteries, battery tenders, special greases, ceramic coatings... I have no room.
So, what am I up against with this snowmobile? Where do I start? What did I get myself into? I guess I really do need a table lift now.

welcome to the site! congrats on the sled as well.
lots of the common issues have been adressed in this area. just read rocker dan's build thread and he covered most of the issues with the sled.

Snow trackers , lighter steering, one of the best and cheapest without buying skies

What Mototown says...weld chain case tensioner the first time you crack the chaincase open.... i would say do it when you change the break in oil... Which should be after 300 miles of breaking it in HARD. DON"T baby it. Short Full throttle pulls. Heat soak and let cool. Then do the Mike Knapp Crank case vent loop by-pass. After that, ride it and keep an eye on the known issues. You can get very overwhelmed trying to PRE-FIX everything that can go wrong. Not only is it expensive , but it takes allot of time. Enjoy, there isn't a better ride out there when set up properly

Thanks for all your comments. I'm googling the parts now...
I also need to create a snowmobile log. I use Microsoft OneNote software to maintain and track product equipment information

Congrats. If they offer you the extended warranty for reasonable money I would do it. look at Barn of parts driveshaft wedge, fourth wheel kit also. Do the nickel anti seize on muffler bolts. Tunnel protector and picks. As mentioned Rocker Dans sled build covers everything. Check out ProLine trailers in Milton NH. Much better built than others.

Definitely 4 year extended YES Warranty for sure!
Had it on my Apex, and have it currently on my 18 Winder. Both have paid for themselves in one breakdown!! I got it for free on my Winder(dealer threw it in for nothing on spring order), but would have paid for it if needed to. No brainer.

SAB1 - I sent Aaron at Proline a quote request at 0900am this morning for a Hybrid. I need to measure the true length of the sled at the dealer for confirmation of the trailer interior length. This sled is a touring extra long?
The manager at the NH dealer said they need to get rid of the sleds to make to room for the motorcycles.... I got 3 YES years on my Waverunner but that was at the boat show. I'll ask..

You May have to purchase the 4 year YES on your Winder...but it’s well worth it!
When I bought my 07 Apex..two years left over in the box in 09, my dealer gave me the one year full warranty on it, and then I purchased the 4 year YES Extended warranty! So I had 5 years of Full coverage.
And got the same Extended on my Winder. You’d be foolish to buy that sled without the extended YES!

I would address the muffler bolts soon as you get it home. Real simple to do and the anti seize makes it a breeze to remove muffler. I had 300 miles when I removed mine for the first time and 2 bolts gave me trouble and left bits of their threads in the turbo holes. I was able to chase them all with a tap so no damage but if I would of waited much longer it may have been much worse. Considering the muffler comes off for alot of the maintainance you dont want to struggle with it. Congrats on the sled, your gonna love it.

Update,
When I met with the powersports finance manager today, guess what, ..they quoted me the wrong price for the sled in the email by $6000, so I walked out.
Did they do it on purpose just to get me in the chair? I'm really not sure. (I think this is illegal in car sales.) The person just seemed tired of sales and the general public and didn't care if it was right or wrong. BLUF - $16000 for the sled. I confirmed this price with 3 other dealers.
Warranty: the snowmobile comes w/ one year (1 yr). Nobody wants to talk warranty but one dealer said $1100-12 months (2 yrs), $1400 -24 (3 yrs), 1600- 36 (4 yrs), and 1800- 48 (5 yrs). And they said they might do better when & if I sign the deal ($200 more off).
I'm going to sit back for a few days see what happens.

You know the more I think about this the owner of the business needs to get a registered letter about what happened today and the promise and then the refusal. Need to find the owners name.

And they are bending you over on the extended warranty as well. Port Yamaha will sell you that at a much better price. It is a YAMAHA warranty that is good at any dealer. You don't have to purchase it at your local dealer. Sounds like a real great place to trade....NOT!
