I just ran across a new Stryke ski review from SuperTrax magazine that I thought gave some interesting thoughts. It should be interesting to see what the troops think of this new ski once the snow flies this winter.

I plan on giving my thoughts of the ski once I get some seat time on my new SRX. It should be interesting to see what the aftermarket companies will have available for replacement runners this season for the Stryke ski.

So far my dealer hasn't seen any info from Yamaha for the optional tuning shims for the skis. Has anyone heard anything regarding the availability of the tuning shims?

I was just at my local Yamaha shop looking at the dealers own SRX sled on the floor. Didn’t ask about the shims, but I was told that these new skis are much like Cat skis, and they use the same runner bolt pattern I was told.
Wow shimming skis takes me back to my 97 SX. Haven’t used that trick since back then.

Very envious of that beautiful Blue SRX though.

Buying snow trackers for my srx , hoping new ski is something like the 08 apex ski. If it improves the sled as it did the apex , the sled will be magic after some suspension adjustments.

I Found a Part number (19411) for the snowtrackers on the stryke ski. they are still showing them as not available on the snowtracker website. Was anyone able to find a set yet?

There are no snowtrackers available yet. The snow trackers for the cat ski have the same stud pattern, but the studs are about 1/4" too short according to my rep. If none of the stryke specific trackers become available in time I plan to weld longer studs on to the cat version.

Snowtrackers don't use excessively long studs, so I suspect slim jims and other aftermarket carbides for the cat ski will be no issue on the stryke ski.

These are bit different stock carbides

I have shimmed all my skis for years......
Stopped doing that since my first pair of Woodys dooly runners, and that was on my wife’s new 03 Viper way back then.

No more darting period, but I see why others may prefer single carbides and shimming to stop some of the darting, whereas dual type wear bars do cause a bit more push in the corners, but again for one hand riding if you know what I mean, it’s been hands down for all my sleds since then, and of course my wife and daughters sleds to. Just amazing results, on way to many sleds to mention. Night and day difference for sure by just adding Woodys Dooly.

I run the dooly's AND shim the ski

You probably get a better wear pattern by going the extra step and doing that. I got 2 seasons out of my first set of SJ’s.
Second season had a lot of asphalt bridge crossing (200 yds) one way, they wore down to nothing on the entire SJ length, but I do remember checking them out after the first season and they did not show uneven wear.

But then again, I put a set of Curves with 6” SJs on right away. You ever try and put a set of those curve rubbers on?

They are so tight that no shimming under those would be possible, whereas I had to boil those rubbers and still struggled to get the ski bolt through!

Got rid of those Curve rubbers last season and added a set of 4” SJ and reused my stock rubbers. So I could try that shimming idea. Shall take a look at how they are wearing tomorrow and if they are wearing the front or rear of the SJ, and not even, I shall do it. There is plenty of room for shims with the stock rubbers. So thanks for mentioning your method, I do appreciate that.

I know, I ramble on a bit!

SJ = Woodys Slim Jim.

Motorhead, you are right about there being no room for a shim on the Curves but I bought mine from Travis at BarnOfParts where you use the stock rubbers and not the Curves. However, he adds a plate to where the rubber sits (sits underneath the two ski bolt bushings which also holds the plate in place) to compensate for the difference so with the plate and using stock rubbers, there is no room as well. With you running without that plate completely and only adding shims, I'd be curious if that would pose any issues.
