New track Chatter on SRX

The gear probably wasn’t clean and had a large piece of something sticking to it from the gear lube. When the sprockets started turning the piece got wedged between the gear and chain causing damage to the link. Gear lube is very sticky. If it was set on a dirty floor could have been anything. Or it could have had a piece in the chain.

Put another washer behind the top gear(inside), then you will need a washer half as thick for the outside. This will keep them engaged better.
Your bushing is worn out in the upper gear.

Get a chain from Cat, Wahl Brothers or speedworks. Season is to short
Found a spare on the shelf at dealer an hour away. They ordered it for a service job but never needed it. Called two in MSP and Port and all reported backorder. Paid a kid $50 to jump in my truck and go get it. Whew!!
