operation mtx -100lbs well on its way

i was going to go with the 2.3 kg spring (stiffer) from pioneer performance, then stiffen the compression of the stock shocks. too many conflicting reports on the floats, and i dont want to be a guinea pig for the float 2's comming out next month. ski

I am doing a MTX build for a customer and he's about 280 lbs. I have opted for the 2.5 kg springs from a standard FX Nytro. I also tried ordering a set of 2.3 kg springs from Pioneer but he said they are out for 6 weeks yet. Last season I ran the GYT-R shocks from a standard FX Nytro with the MTX standard front springs (1.7 kg) and they worked excellent.

What are your thoughts about air flow disruption with the under tunnel exhaust? There are a lot of reports of lost performance with under tunnel exhausts.

Also what was the price on the exhaust?

As far as I'm concerned, I could not notice a difference with the under tunnel exhaust. I don't think there is enough of an effect for trail/mountain riders. Now a drag racer may notice it because he is trying to get every little pony out of his sled. I've run an under tunnel exhaust for several years now and think it really cuts down on the exhaust note.

I've been looking real hard for a undertail exhaust for my nitro and so far the best i've seen is fab'ed up by E and S motorsports in fort saskatchewan,,ask for darren in service and he'll set you guys up. So far he's just taken orders. I have mine comin and i'll post some pics as soon as its installed probably after the edmonton sled show, It includes a shaped piece of alum. to close of your tunnel and back of seat. if anyone knows of anyone carrying a similar set-up i'd like to see it.

i'm getting alot closer now to having her done. i closed off the tunnel, with a plate of tunnel extension thickness aluminum. i have the exhaust and the new mountain mod seat installed.

thanks to the guys at snowest (funjunkie) i am going to run a powermadd storage box (the one that goes over the clutch cover) to the tunnel in the gap between the seat and the skidoo fuel can. this will let me butt the fuel can to the box for stability in transport. and it will give me even more tunnel top storage.

i am waiting for ulmer to come out with the oillite bushing kit for the timbersled front end, then that will go on. along with possible fox float 2's. and then the lightweight ytz7 (or ytz10) battery. that should get me close to the 100 pound mark.

might polish her today. waiting for powdercoating for bumpers and foot rests. deciding on who to send that to. might give welterracer a try. gotta support those that support us.

pics will be coming soon. ski

well, go riding post pics and prove it! LOL!

did you see the pics of the snow we got? some area we ride got over 5 feet yes FIVE feet in last 48 hours!!!!

besides you chastised me once for posting my 100lb weight loss stuff in your thread...am not doing that again :)

me? rub it in? NAH!!!!!!!

have you seen five feet for fresh pow? it looks almost as tall as a person that is 6 feet tall, but only one foot less... :p

well, dropped another 10 pounds off her today. went to the battery store and bought a ytz10 (they were out of the ytz7 which is alittle lighter yet) the ytz 10, and ytz 20 (stock) are approx 10 pounds different in weight. this was weighed on a bathroom scale.

it was really easy to fit the 10 in the nytro, just had to add a 1 1/4" wide spacer on the side, and rebend the battery retainer to accomodate the shorter ytz7. very straight forward install.

i also rec'd my powermadd clutch storage box as well, i mounted it behind the mountain mod seat, and added rubber snubbers to accomodate the 3+ gallon doo jerry can. this gives the can something to lock against when tightening the retainer strap for the can. and gives you even more storage back there.

i aligned the skis via the steering shaft after i put in the wild child steering post relocator. when you change the position of the post, it turns your skis. to offset this you must realign them by the steering shaft ends (not the tie rods going to the spindles). it was a pain but i got it done.

i ordered another powermadd box today as well, going to remove the stock tail lamp, put another box back there, then put an custom yamaha led tail lamp from fourbarr on the rear of the box. going to plumb the wires for the rear lamp under the tunnel in aluminum conduit to get it off the tunnel top. for a nice clean profesional install look.

only use that site for a visualization. if you want one like those shown, or a custom one, search the net for fourbarr industries in washington. call them and order direct.

this will give me even more places to put stuff. LOL! i might not have very much in my backpack this season. (finally) so if you can visualize, i am going to have a box in front, and behind the doo gas can on the tunnel extension.

just waiting on ulmer to make the bushing for the timbersled barkbuster front end for the final phaze of the weight loss. and cant wait to install my bumpers and foot holds being powdercoated by welterracer (ty sponsor) they are gonna top the sled off nicely.

will be reclutching with ulmers high alt kit tomorrow getting her even closer yet, for the snow.

you ready for us MTdream???? ski
