Sorry was first time posting with a I-Phone! The wheels are from a Venture Light. They are rubber so should not flat spot as easy and are 1/2 the cost of Phazer Upper Guide wheel. Problem is the bearing. The wheels need to be bored and a groove made for the clip which must be from original Phazer wheels along with the stock bearing. A .080 spacer will be needed on clip side to make up for the narrower Phazer bearing which ends up offset to the unclipped side. This was done on a Lathe by me. Was not fun since flange on wheel is tapered and wants to come out of jaws. It can be done though.

I dropped mine off at a local machine shop so I should hear within a couple of days.

What about just adding a clip on the unclipped side to center the bearing instead of a spacer?

Well I'll know for next time. I just bought the uppers because mine were shot. I have a friend with his own lath and he said he has a tool that will cut the groove into plastic wheels. He said he has a method to hold the plastic wheels. I'll ask him tomorrow and take some pictures of what he's using.

That would be great! Those little tricks for mounting make the job so much easier. Mooseman clip is .065in but would be close enough I bet. Maybe close enough as is even.

I believe the issue with the heat shielding is that the glue burns and lets the fibre fall and get shredded. This old lower one shows that.

I talked to him today and he's got one of my old wheels he's "practicing" on. He did mention that he clamps the wheel from the outside. I have no experience with lathes so I'll take some pictures of the stuff he used to get the job done.

I talk to him today and he said he was able to lathe out the one of the idler wheels and cut a groove for the "C" clip. He said it worked out very well. He out of town for the rest of the week but when he's back I'll take some pics.

Hope he lets you take a pic of how he held it in Lathe. Wish we could have a wheel made that had a wider bearing in it or two of our stockers right next to each other.

Hey guys, Just got the upper wheels from the machine shop so I'm almost done with them. I'm just missing new 6006 bearings and I'll write up a how-to for the FAQ's.

Ever find that something you are looking for finds you at the most inopportune times? We have been looking for upper guide wheels forever and after all the work machining look what I found!

2014 AC SnoPro 600 skid has exact replacement wheels. No Machining necessary and they look beefy as heck except for the Chinese bearing inside them. Bearing is same 6006 we use so a quality one should be available from Yamaha.

Even though the Hiems wouldn't work for replacing our outer tierod ends the boots I got work great. Filled them with grease so we will see how long the stock Yamaha ends last. The boots were a bugger to get on but a little grease and putting the joint in vice to hold it worked well and no rips. Real happy with these.
