Well my "corner to corner" days are numbered. Haha. Kinda the reason for the Sidewinder. If I was going to rail it hard.....I'd grab a 600 and pin the flipper until one of us gave up. Its usually me. Oh, yeah....still got that 600.
Back to blocks. I think many have tried to ease that contact. I was thinking about rhinoliner. Or spray undercoating. I'll try something.
And the racewerks are definitely an option. But don't have the ability to allow transfer like the blocks removed.

I know you can further mod the racewerx... but if you do the rod.. I'd the the heaviest duty hose and cover the rod rail to rail

I believe the 1 and 2 positions are less than the lowest on the block and my guess is 1 would be the same as the flat on the rod...but yes....you might be able to grind a tad more away..

Great thread Dan, I just picked up an 18 SW and will put the 6.9 skis on it. I also have a 16 Viper LTX I just purchased, does anyone know if the 6.9's will work better than the tuners on this sled? If so, is it worth the money to make the change?

I would say yes. I have had either Pilot 5.7 or 6.9's on all my Yamahas and they make a big difference.Great thread Dan, I just picked up an 18 SW and will put the 6.9 skis on it. Dan, I called my dealer today and he told me that the 6.9 were very old skiis and that the 5.7's are better. He could not order the 6.9's. Can they still be had?

yes they can still be had by a good/smart BRP dealer who knows the part number.Dan, I called my dealer today and he told me that the 6.9 were very old skiis and that the 5.7's are better. He could not order the 6.9's. Can they still be had?
But I would just grab them from Leaders like many of us do...5.7s are fine too, but will not work as well in powder, as the wider ski gets on top easier with the heavy 4s nose. 5.7s are much cheaper though in their kit they sell. 5.7 will last longer too. Both work well on winder IMO.
6.9s on ebay from leaders: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ski-Doo-Ne...ash=item2c632c2694:g:-Q8AAOSwUuFWzTeM&vxp=mtr

Transfer blocks; I removed mine and slid a piece of heater type hose over the shaft. The first time out it got shredded. Re-installed the blocks. Doo is making the 6.9's again. Ordered mine through my dealer for $200

Has anyone tried the blue Pilot ski handles and do they match the Yamaha Sidewinder Racing blue ?

I ordered 6.9’s from my dealer 8 weeks ago. The left side came in right away but not the right. He checked the back order status today and said it should be in early next week.
I was willing to wait as I prefer to patronize the locals.

to me the doo blue is off.....I got lucky and found a set of blue yam handles (old one like 2002-4 era) and with slight modding look perfect....I turned my bud mighty on to them and he did the same ...he has a picture on here somewhere with it..

As SJ mentioned the 02-10 yamaha loops fit pilot nicely with minimal mods. Most sleds I get in that have pilots on have the yamaha loops installed on them.
I'm sure you can source some local, but if not I have a bunch of used ones here. Blue, black, & Red. $35 shipped for a pair in the US if anyone is interested.
