I remember the era of single lungers only on all brands. If you went riding with a group and stopped for a while, once the group decided to start up again it took a couple of us with a spark plug wrench and a lighter to get them all going again. Then came the twins and much better and easier starting.
...and we always travelled with an aerosol bottle or two of QuickStart. That stuff would getting anything running.

WOW!
Steel trailers, 115'' tracks, no snow guard & most likely rusty quarters on that Chevy.
The good 'ole days............and cheap!
It's pretty new in that photo but I did have it Ziebarted and rust was the least of it's problems. Replaced the real main seal 2X over it's life. Now, that was expensive! That Eric steel trailer was junk within a couple more years. Kept the '85 Indy 400 5 years 'till it leaned out in snow dust. Still can't believe I let someone cut into the roof to install a $249 sun roof in it. Lucked out there as it never leaked while I had it.
Anyway, to attempt to stay on track is Yamaha lying down? I guess I haven't been too surprised at their offerings over the last couple years. Bottom line is they have their fair share of the market, the consumers have spoken. Even if the market were to shrink a bit more, they could still triple their share of it with the right products.

I got my butt handed to me by a 1979 Enticer 250, I had a John Deere 340 Trailfire at the time. It was not even close. I couldn't believe a single lunger could go that fast because I started out at 14 years old with Ski-Doo Elan single that would run 20-25 MPH on a good day. Long live the Enticer......

lol dad had a 79 et250 too that would demolish all 340 cc sleds into the 90's. the only ones i would have trouble with where the indy 400's, even with the powerblock clutch that the dealer set for top speed and did not give us any parts to change the settings. bother and i where mad when he gave it away to a kid that blew it up within 2 hours of getting it. that was a fun little sled. be nice if they came out with a modern equvilent of it or the bravo.

And some Bravos
And some Enticers
A reboot of the Bravo or Enticer would sell like hot cakes up in Canada. Bravos still command big money - as much as new, 4000+ at times. Enticers are very hot too, especially clean ones.
I heard a rumor of a smaller 4 stroke but don’t know if it is for real.

It was 39 yesterday morning! lol!Dam I had a 71’ skiroule with a Sachs 440!
The colder weather has got it heating up here on TY.
Keep them stories coming!
My sachs 440 in the rtx never blew up, in 6000 miles but the crank rod and wrist pin bearings rusted. Could have been the Union Carbide synthetic oil. Run with the rabbit! Still have some of that stuff too...use it for lubing stuff like barn door hinges...

A friend had 2.....gave my skiroule 447 all it could handle..and handling was amazing....very fun sled! I always thought his 250 was going to blow as it was so fast!I got my butt handed to me by a 1979 Enticer 250, I had a John Deere 340 Trailfire at the time. It was not even close. I was looking over the Yamaha Boat Motor page and they have some amazing motors & tech in them:
-direct injection
-5 pump system putting out 2900 psi
-carbon coated lifters
-plasma fused cylinders
This company has the tech & ability to make crazy, lightweight, dependable motors. This we know.
If they could just get this deal with AC/Textron moved forward, they have some good options.
Buying Arctic Cat and becoming an engine supplier is not that bad of an idea, as long as they improve on existing conditions:
-fasteners & how they're installed
-some tech & improvements on the 2-strokes
-quality control
The Arctic Cat name should not leave the Sno-biz. We lost them once & it was just bad for the sport...

Not only that, I personally believe the Todd/Sarah Palin split is because he joined up with ski doo after all those years with cat!I was looking over the Yamaha Boat Motor page and they have some amazing motors & tech in them:

Don't scrap those old rusty sled trailers....mount some crap on them, like a generator, saws, planer, compressor and tow it around the yard as a nice portable work center!!WOW!

Maybe the sport has gotten expensive because we're spoiled old men.
I remember putting a bumper hitch on my '78 Honda Accord, wiring in a harness to the brake lights an hour before leaving & borrowing the neighbors' farm trailer. Not sure the trailer was even road legal. Had to stop every hour to put a quart of oil in, but it made it.
NOW i have a new Twin Turbo Ecoboost with SuperCrew cab, a brand new Nitro Hybrid trailer & an "old" $17,000 240hp sled.
SPOILED! Just freeeekin' SPOILED.....................that's what divorce will do to a man!
