Relax! Yamaha is not lying Down.

I love the viper sleds, but a lighter, smaller twin 4 stroke for the wife and eventually something the kids could move into would be nice. They should be building their own sleds on our side of the pond...

Not sure what a new Yamaha Japan built sled and chassis would cost to ship to North America, the prices on the new Yamaha Sidewinders built in the US here in Canada are unbelievable, creeping up to the mid $20's now for a brand new one, if the market share doesn't kill Yamaha their pricing will, there are some that want a brand new 200hp Yamaha Sidewinder but can't justify paying over 20 grand before taxes, and do not want a Viper, so they look else where, and so they should.
Pricing is what is going to kill this company. It certainly isn't helping them right now. People will always say "its inflation". Sure inflation happens on everything but heres the problem most people don't realize, wages haven't kept up to inflation hence why people cant afford these types of things anymore. If prices don't level out soon then fewer and fewer people are going to be buying new sleds.

Dam that was a rant!
:drink:
I’m working on my positive attitude, I really need an early season change of latitude!
Next will be my sense of humor...

That's it. Read an article that stated that over the last 30 years housing prices have gone up 10 fold, truck prices as well. Average new sled was $1,400 and now is about $14,000 which has fallen in line with the rest of inflation. However wages haven't keep up and lets face it this industry is a luxury not a necessity. Volumes have fallen and companies are fighting for the fastest and most feature laden sled to attract buyers but that just jacks prices up more. Hopefully Yamaha can stay in it (cause I just bought one) but the corporate animal is a vicious one and the snowmobile portion of the Yamaha biz is a small piece of their pie. Christ, I think they make 6x more golf carts then snowmobiles!

sorry to say global warming is not effecting sled sales, this is a fact at least in minnesota!!!!theres always stretches of bad snow years and always has been!!!

Hey, "limp member", attitude gets relearned behind the woodshed! Just saying... Cant wait for snow! My sled is still stuck in reverse since last spring.

read the above article. Sled sales are UP ^^^^

I don't know how they build these beautiful little rockets with everyone along the line including the dealer making money.
20 grand ain't exactly a lot of coin these days.

For a sled it is. Most people are lucky to use it for 3 months out of a year & the way it has breen going less than that.

I agree, for the average Joe $20 grand is a huge amount of money to tie up in a new sled, not sure if I personally would buy a used Sidewinder, if the average Joe was forced to buy a used sled because of new Yamaha sled overpricing he would feel a lot safer and smarter laying his hard earned dollars down on a used reliable Apex not a used Walmart put together Yamacat….just saying.

That article is from 2015
Sorry, quoted the wrong article, this is the correct one.
