RX1 Engine re-assembly (with pics)

Assembly lube on all mating surfaces, and set the cams in place.

Position the cams as close to the reference marks as possible, and evenly tighten the caps down. Final torque spec is 7.2 ft/lb

Rotate cams until the reference dots on the cams are lined up with the corresponding marks on the intake & exhaust camshaft cover caps.

Starting with the exhaust cam, keep tension on the cam chain and place the exhaust cam gear onto the cam, and then move to the intake cam. Torque cam gear bolts to 17 ft/lb

:o| I was following along so well, but fell into a snag.

I just realized that the chain tensioner needed to be reinstalled before the crank was put into place. After I torqued everything, realized it wont go behind the gear on the crank.

O well, sunday morning I will redo what I did, unless someone has an answer to my problem??

;)! I like your footage on the timing, that is the next area of concern that I had, but that helps alot.

I have never put one of these together, but so far...with minor setback..so good! Once I get the timing issue complete I will be looking good.

Ooooohh, shitty - you forgot the cam chain guide behind the gear reduction, right? Been there, done that. You already know the answer to your problem, R&R the crank....
