Update to my friends project - the Powder Lites powered Attak converted from a MCX rear mount to a PL front mount.
The sled is coming together, installing the side and hood panels.
Removing seat and tank before final install. Tank had to be cleaned up inside and have some heat insulation installed in front of the tank.
I added heat shielding insulation to the tank, seem like my friend are happy with my work
Installing the tank.
Installing the seat, tank cover and side cover plastics.
Adjusting the seat height and installing the rear end plastics.
Done.
My friend is a happy camper now
Build is done.

A few misc pics from rxrider's turbo garage
I've almost forgotten my bone stock sled, the '08 Apex RTX. She has been in there all the time but hasn't got much attention, here's a pic of her in the background.
My friend looking over the old RX
Nice to have the build done at last, tuning remains.

Updates from my friends build, first testride done.
Back in the turbo garage after the first ride.
My friend is very happy with the outcome so far.
Like me he has to take care of a few issues with too much heat in a few spots. The tank cover got very hot and so did the heat shield on top of the turbo.
He also had a oil leak to take care of, a small leak occured on the oil intake on top of the turbo, oil were dripping down on onto the heat shields underneat the turbo and created some serious smoke. He tightened down the oil inlet nut and the leak stopped.
He also made up a small scope to add to the turbo heat shield to direct more air flow past the turbo and downpipe.
Then he added some heat shielding material to the turbo heat shield.
Installing the software for the RapidBike 3.
The drivers for the hardware installed.
Connecting the RB3 to the PC.
Loading the RB3 software.
Let the tuning start

which map is that on the screen?? None of my maps look even close to that?? The fuel comes in real fast there?
I am looking to do a XP gas tank/seat conversion on my sled as well. I may be getting in touch with you on this....
Nice build log by the way... get out and ride already!!!

I'm not 100% sure but it could be the map the RB3 came with. I will check into it later on an post the map he have loaded now.
If you have any questions feel free to ask
Have not ridden it much :-( will do asap when I get some spare time, soon I hope.

Been out on a short ride, only a few kilometers/miles. Turbo came with boost preadjusted at 12 lbs. I had the boost controller turned all the way down.
Max boost was 12 lbs
AFRs was 11.9-12.1 WOT
Throttle response is awesome
Sound is incredible, almost like a muscle car...
Need more seat time to raise boost and keep the AFRs in check, I also need to recalibrate the clutches to the new engine caracteristics, can't wait to get out again

UPDATE March 5. - Second ride. Checking for leaks. Checking heat shields.
Here's what my sled looks like outside and ready to ride.
I discovered a small leak from the Vortech, a few drops of oil came out and fell down on the clutch cover. It seems like I need a restrictor to the turbo oil feed line afterall, despite what Dave and Darren told me.
I found that I need more heat insulation as a few hoses and the boost controller became frying hot. I added some more shielding in front of the exhaust flange where the turbo mounts to the header to prevent radiant heat to reach the coils and hoses, in addition I also shielded the offending hoses. The connector on the left head light bulb had started to melt so I had to add some more shielding materials on top of the turbo.
The front bolt on the left wear bar broke off leving the ski loop loose, by design the Slydogs ski loops are mounted to the front bolt of the wear bars. Gotta have a new bolt welded on tomorrow morning.
I don't worry too much about the small amout of oil coming out the Vortech at this time, I will however add a restrictor to the turbo oil feed line to stop the oil from pushing thru the bearings in the turbo asap.
I will go for another test ride tomorrow morning, think I'm heading up the valley as there is more snow and better riding conditions.

I have said it before Jan-Ove - you NEED a restrictor in the oil feed line - if not oil will be pushed passed the seals.
If your run it like this in the long run you will have a nice "fire" in your down pipe when things get hot and oil is pushing passed the seals.
I can mail you the banjo with the restrictor if you need it ASAP. It won't be a permanent fix since you have a 90 degree feedline, but alteast you can drive until you get ahold of a straight restrictor
Or just just drill and tap a pilot jet in your banjo bolt. I can check if the banjo bolt (with build in restrictor) will fit the adaptor plate behind the oilfilter.

Yes I know.... why do I listen to the wrong guys all the time, you said it, Ted said it......bummer.
What size restrictor should I go for?
Should I use a 0.035" or 0.9 millimeter restrictor?

I don't think I'm going to put it down there, too much wrenching involved. Why not mount it on top of the turbo where it's a lot easier access?
Ted J. restrictor fits on top of the turbo.
I was just giving you a suggestion - so down time want be to long.
You only have to pull the IC to get to your banjo bolt. The banjo bolt I have from GIK (Norwegian Garrett dealer) already have the restrictor. BOlt might fit oil adaptor plate. Let me know if you need it

Thanks buddy for the offer, please send it to me - it might take some time to get the restrictors from the US or Canada.
