The seat on my 2005 Vector gets pretty warm when it's 30F out, and I'm riding in a packed or low snow condition. The bottom of the seat is OK, but should it be getting this warm? It's almost getting to the point of being annoying.

White Knuckle has a shield they put under the cover for the exhaust. Keeps 1/2 of the heat from getting to the aluminum just under the seat. Check the insulation under the exhaust cover that is held on with four 10mm bolts, I bet yours is gone!
Thanks Terry I'll take a look!

Re: POSSIBLITY
LOL
I may need a seat. Going to peal back the cover on mine and take a look inside because the foam top and raised back part are distorted. Is it a 05? Are you coming to the TY Manitoba ride.

Ya I have the bumper, it was stuck to the plastic, that was stuck to the foam, in the hole in the seat. It was not melted! Good stuff!

Well SRXtwins is the winner, that exactly whats happening. The backside is pushing the heatshield down tight against the muffler. Even though nothing looks bent it is flat against the muffler. I'm thinking a few pieces of stainless tubing bent around the muffler tacked to a flat piece of stainless on each end.
Then heat and bend the flat piece around the sides of the muffler. Has anyone tacked anything to the muffler or welded on it? How thick is it? Will 1/16 stainless PW-5 rods work? I think I have some of them!

As long as you tack it, and not give it too much heat, it will work. Better yet, why don't you rivot it to the heat shield instead.

Ya that was what I was thinking today at work while I was scrounging a few pieces of stainless tubing from the scrap steel bin. Funny what a nights sleep will do!
