Sneak Peak of New Sleds

That's exactly what Textron is doing, they are a big company and need right off's,Textron did that very thing to Polaris when they own them liquidated in the early 80's, they are money driven not by any means pride driven, so its just a matter of time, maybe this is Yamaha's plan all along to get the sled division of Cat for a song, Yamaha ceo's are very very patience.

20/80 if you where to tour the plants, Cat and Polaris you wouldn't feel that way. Most of the employee's we saw at both plants are just doing this until something better comes along. They are some that are "career" ammenbly line workers but its not something most people would want to do all their life. We toured the plants a while ago and with ecomomy maybel things have changed.
Thanks, back in the early 80's and into the 90's Cat used to send their snowmobile customers a Cat pride magazine I think 3 times a year, showing the pride and dedication of their workers and their staff had in building Cat snowmobiles products, one big happy family and would not want to work any where else, times are changing, back in the day they were a family and dedicated and went the extra, today it seems like they are only a number and treated like a robot.

Yep pretty much the way it is every where these day's, times have changed and unless ya change with them your left behind, good or bad.

There are some notable improvements. I'm not a 2 stroke guy, but the engine has been refined. If there claims are true, this will be the most powerful 800 ever built by any manufacturer and less than 5hp shy of 850's.
Yeah I have to admit that I jumped the gun a bit before hearing about the motor changes. This all sounds good but I for see problems. You can only push so much power out of an engine before problems start and I feel they are really pushing the 800 to the edge. I hope I'm wrong but why wouldn't you make a slightly larger motor so it doesn't have to work as hard to make the same power?

I feel Yamaha blew a huge opportunity to buy Cat before Textron got their hands on it. Now there are too many cooks in the kitchen and I fear Yamaha will have an even smaller role in what happens in the Yamacat world.

Like many I was hoping for a Yamaha take over of Cat design and production and now we have both Cat and Yamaha a Spring only snowmobile. How can either survive? I fear Textron is just using Cat to balance their books and may end up liquidating them.

I hate the thought of just Doo and Poo being the only options. Who will push them to build better products?
I have been saying this for awhile now. Yamaha has zero say in what happens to these sleds beside what motor is in them. Otherwise we would have seen some more significant changes by now. That to me is not a partnership or agreement. That is simply a vendor selling to another vender. Its been that way from the start. I fear now that they are going spring order only that the prices are going to be even higher to make up for the lack of sleds that will sell. I'm sorry but that's not the way they should be doing it. Both Ski-doo and Polaris don't do that and they lead the pack in sales. How do they make it work? I fear if they jack up the prices any more it will be the end of the sport.

Yup I work in corporate and this is spot on. In the eyes of the executives I'm just a number even though I run jobs that are $250,000+ sometimes. They could care less what I do as long as money is still coming in. Nobody has any passion where I work. Its simply just a job for them and to be honest I feel the same and I feel its the same pretty much anywhere else unless you work for a small company were you will stand out more. I have done that too but then you get to see how a family owned business works. If you ain't family then its not really any different then working in corporate. All in all companies don't treat their employees like they used too.

You are not the only one. My 129 hooks up much better than my Dad's 137 on the trails. Suspensions are set to the same exact settings.

Ditto. My 129 hooks up way better than my buddy's 137. If we were all 5' 10" and weighed 175lbs that theory would be true. Average for the guys I ride with is '6"2 - 250. The extra weightr makes my 129 work awesome.

Hooking up has a lot to do with weight transfer. Just on this site people have been trying to get the 137 to transfer for 3 seasons with little success. It is my own theory that the whole ' bridging the bumps better with a longer track' is a bunch of crap too. There is only about 3 more inches of track on the ground on a 137 than a 129. A mortal is not going to notice this.
