Something let go in chaincase

Heres the reverse delete I used on my cat first season I had it. I had posted this on another site when the procrosses first came out. The reverse in my turbo has been flawless for a few years now since I changed the jackshaft and aligned everything. Im with you guys that the issue your having with SR viper is probably something different but just posted so you know what reverse delete is and it is an option if need be.

I used 1.25 x.120 DOM tubing . Id(1.005 hole) of tube is just perfect to slide right over splines on shaft, needs to be .675 long. Counter sunk allen bolt is 8x1.25 thread and 25mm long overall(it could be a little shorter or longer. Washer is .090 thick 1.25" OD and it HAS TO BE COUNTERSUNK, if you dont it wont clear the case. Make SURE you use loctite as well, if this bolt backs out the oil tank is on the other side.

Theres all the specs to build your own or have it built. You can throw it in your sled and if you have trouble you can install it with the right tools or have someone install it to get you back out riding untill the fix is out for these new sleds.

Thanks suprfst

I might do this for asphalt this year.

Did you cover the hole for the servo? Or can it stay in?

Maybe the chain case is getting to hot on those long runs. I had a skidoo once with reverse that would pop out of gear on long runs and it was getting very hot.

Nope the servo motor fails and when that happens it pops out of gear. My cat did it in the first 150 miles. The entire design is a complete joke. Yamaha has a proven system on the apex with a lever. They need to go back to a mechanical setup.

I'm shocked after all the issues Yamaha had with the phazer with the electric reverse that they would go with an electric setup on this sled.

Not always true, mine went out when I was in reverse. I pulled it and hit the switch I could feel it trying to actuate but no movement in the gear. I manuall put the sled into forward and put the actuator back in and rode it for almost 500 miles till the new one came in to dealer.

Terry they make a rubber plug that goes in that hole for the 800 cat.

Thanks J

I just left servo in and removed shift forks, you can remove reverse chain as well , need to leave bottom sprocket on though or make a spacer for it

Servo

Remove the servo and gear...put a protective sleeve over harness and zip tie....get the chain case plug that goes in the same case from the f 800...or you can use a freeze plug

Well I looked it over before the weekend, all looked good and about 15 miles.... she let go, broke the cover and crapped oil out on the trail. I have a feeling that a bearing maybe was on its way out that started this mess and finally just let go and did some real damage.. :(

Off to the dealer for some warranty work... :o|

Aw man sorry to hear that. Was hoping you were going to be one of the lucky ones after a gear pop out. Sure makes me nervous now that my reverse stopped working also. Will find out next year if fixed right but sure was fun and awesome riding this weekend!

Sorry to hear Tom, That what happens when you cross breed with a know defect in those kittys! I enjoy the old manual reverse in my apex, somtimes what works is what we should stay with! I always get a kick out of the snowmobile guys on sled reviews that say Yamah needs to update the quirkie reverse lever... lol Hopefully Yamaha will fix the issue for good!
