Same in DOO world too. Ultimax XS seems to outlast stock BRP belts bigtime. Looks like Timken has the best combination of materials for longevity for ALL sleds. It does seem the DOOS will rev less with the Ultimax, so likely better grip with less slip, less heat. I never blew my ultimax all season on the Winder at 270 hard running corner to corner where belt life is hard.
Not too mention the huge cost savings below most stock manufacturer belts(cat/brp) and also the FREE new belt if you do blow one. Sure cannot beat that.

I've run XTX and they seemed as good as XS (Timken). I've seen allot of the BIG HP (300+ HP) mountain turbo guys are using the Dayco XTX. They hold theirs wide open for many minutes at slow forward speed (not much air coming through front). Maybe it's all marketing hype? From my experience, so far the Timken XS belt holds up the best.Anyone try day off xtx 5058

Yup! Razorback must have thought it out. Good design.OK thanks, didn't realize the sensor had a 14" lead. That makes it easy!

I swore by the Dayco on the Cats. Talking more so the 800’s. Not that they were terrible on belts but I really liked the XTX in the early days of the procross. For some reason the compound just worked well. Better then stock for sure.I've run XTX and they seemed as good as XS (Timken). No not a fan! It’s all good info, clutching a CVT is similar across the board. I feel we should support each other and share knowledge. Kudos to Turboflash for a wealth of knowledge here!
PS. This doesn’t mean I’m NOT going to fu€k with Arctic Cat owners every chance I get!

How's that "cat sauce" taste?!
I might have to take a rip over to the hoop on a day off to say hello.

Today I rode 100+ miles on our frozen lakes with @ 3 inches of snow cover. This Winder is new so now has a total of about 150miles on it. I stopped a few times after some long 80+++mph runs and pulled my side cover to check clutches. Ater 40+++ years running Yamahas I was quite surprised at how hot the secondary clutch and belt were. I could hold my hand on the secondary but it was hot, as was the 8DN belt I am running.
This is an issue I am not accustom to and I am surprised this Yamaha secondary clutch is heating up so much. I can run my Apex at 100+ mph for miles and miles and clutches and belts are just warm.
Need to sort this out.

SSB,
Check your offset with the Hurricane tool, and I would switch right off to the XS825 belt. The 8dn will usually hold up well, but can cause sheave wear. It’s also not a very efficient belt because it’s stiff as a honeymoon pecker, so it sucks horsepower at higher speeds.

Ultamax xs825 never blown a belt from new with 8k. It’s been tuned from Hurricane 300hp for 5k not blown a belt ran back to back runs several times 132 gps. So I’m sticking to what works for me.

That's good to hear. Maybe it's as simple as going to the Ultimax belt after all. How many primary roller sets have you been thru Pan? What is your clutch setup on 300 with the Ultimax that its been that good?
