Testing with TD GPS/Dragy

Apparently but I don't have one.
I will bring you one !
Oh wait I just realized I can't go from one health district to another during shutdown , or if I get caught I will be fined $880 !
So I have to book a few appointments for looking at a long term rental unit maybe on the trails in the Sudbury area , or maybe even on your lake !
@#%!&(!
Unless bringing you the 825 is deemed essential !

I'll rent you a room in my shed

Getting back to what was talked about a few posts back about machining secondary. I believe I took 3mm off my secondary. I have 1mm of clearance with full shift out. This is important as before someone decides to take material off stub on secondary Make sure you don’t take to much. Full shift with belt in and no spring.

I had special shim washers made, that had a small enough OD to fit within the casting at full shift. Otherwise you will have issues at full shift.

2mm removal when machining rear side of hub would be about max to remove without having to have special spacer shims made.

Best thing to do, is take to machinist mocked up without spring ect....then he can see how much to remove to make this area flush at full shift. Should be approx 2 to 2.5mm removal if I recall.

I made my own shims for this very purpose

The only way to run yellow at 60 is with xs825, straight FACTORY 35, and lighter weights. My bad....I should have specified.

With your Dalton primary and 24/37 gears, you'd have to be 72-73 gram, 22/37 gears, you'll have to be 73.5-74.3 grams.

New xs825 will slip if used right out of the box. After taking out of box, scrub with brush and fast orange, let dry, take scotch pad and lightly scuff area above the cord. Do at least 40 easy breaking miles, 100 would be better. After that, belt will stick and last long time.

Qay 70s loaded @77.4gr
Dalton black orange gen 1 @80
Stock 35 helix
22/37 gearing
1" SRX track

Great 1/4 mile speeds for a trail sled on pump gas! Were you running on road or plowed track?

Thanks, alot of hard work and testing. Plowed track on the lake. I'm not hooking very well with my sharpened megabites. I'm going to swap them with triggers. It hopefully will make a big difference in hookup.

On that surface, I think you'll find the Triggers are better. Thinner profile will penetrate better. Pull up your accelerometer and you'll see.
Enjoy!

More fun on the lake today.

Removed my 120 1.575 megabites this morning and installed 96 1.325 triggers. It's a whole new animal!

I'm quite happy with how my sled is coming along. A few tips from a fast friend made a huge difference.

It was a slow day on the ice as the sun was shining and temp was -5c. I was running 126-127 consistently in 1320 on my TD 290 pump gas tune. Looking forward to some hard ice and colder Temps to hopefully realize my 130 in 1320 goal.

I now have DTYA2s loaded up to 85.29 grams with a dalton black bronze in the primary. Pulling 8900 rpms nicely now. Black orange dalton in the secondary at 70 degrees with the stock helix. 22/37 gear. I'm 220lbs with gear on.

Tried the XS belt for the first time on Friday. Conditions were good. Ran 129.77 in 1320 which was my best 1320 pass to date.

Daltons @ 82 gr
Dalton black bronze primary spring
Dalton black orange secondary gen 1 @ 70 with the Stock 35 helix.
Rpms at 89-9000

I found the XS belt very inconsistent. Like mentioned above my first pass rpms were bang on. Second pass my RPM dropped to 8400. I find that with the XS if it sucks the belt down it can't recover. I really want to work with this belt but need more time.

So I am able to run a consistent 125 mph in 1320 at trail height with trail studs. Trying to achieve 130 in 1320 on pump gas is not easy so taking advice from others I lowered the sled and replaced my megabites with 144 triggers. These changes picked up 3-4 mph and has me near my goal. This with me @220 lbs with gear.

Hot intake temps will bring your rpms down 200, let sled cool before second run. If intake temp is 100 or more they will drop. Unless you SEE slipping on clutches.

Congrats. 129.77 is close enough in my book to 130. Maybe wrap that secondary a little more ?

I was thinking little more secondary wrap myself. What helixes have you tried? I’m gonna have to do some testing to dial in my ms17 set up aswell. Also you’re on copitrail or flasher? You able to bring up a boost curve to show if boost is coming to proper levels and so on?
