Awesome!I think Smalltown explained the reason for clip failing. Its the slamming with hard on brake while full throttle being worst.

Looks like its shifting properly in the garage, comes all the way back up within spec and reverse works great too.
I should get it out on a trail tomorrow too see how it performs on the trail.

Got a bit of snow overnight, just enough to cool the slides/engine and went out for a rip.
Full throttle I am at 11 400 (+/-100) when It hooks up (love the freeride track).
Actually gained 10KM/H on top by getting the RPM's bang on. Quite impressed.
I am running a 43* helix wrapped at 60* with a Pink (Only marking I could see? As far as I know its a stock Vector GT) spring and ulmer clutch kit in the primary.

I sure hope Yamaha isnt still producing the stock Phazer clutch. They should give the Phazer one more update and this is it.

Anyone know if there is anything "special" or "different" about the Vmax 4 Clutches. It looks the same as the 500/600 pogo chassis reverse secondaries but I thought I'd ask. the one I'm looking at comes with a 41* helix which is probably a good starting point I'd think.

What year v-max-4?

The part #s for the v-max4 fixed sheave is different from the v-max5&600s. V-max 4s were in a league of their own.

What's the setup everyone settled on now, I just picked up a YVX off 95 600 and its got the original 41* Helix and Green spring which I should be able to try out tomorrow after I grab a new belt and longer bolt. I got the spacer with the clutch and it looks to be direct bolt without needing to modify the spacer at all. Also, my stock secondary was JUST about to loose the snap ring, it was only grabbing 1/4 of the splines and was popped out of the rest, caught it just in time!

Did you get the splines machined out of the secondary to match the original clutch spline depth??

v-max secondary
Hi, You don't have to machine the splines on a 95-96 v-max reverse secondary. I'm running a yamaha 51-45 deg helix with a green spring wound 60 deg 3and3. It turns about 11,000 to about 11,200 depending on conditions. I'm running a stock 144x2 track.

Re: v-max secondary
Id pass on that. The secondary looks like its been laying in a field unless you need a primary. I bought a low mileage Vector clutch for $75 dollars.
