I would imagine that the Viper RTX will be the sled that the Yamaha team uses for the USXC. Their feedback will help make this into a better fast trail sled. They ran the Nytro in the open class where mods where allowed and seen 117 mph in the ice races this year. The other 600 cc race sleds were at 110 from Polaris, Cat and Skidoo. They made a bigger effort this year in cross country and will only get better next year with this chassis.

The stock viper is a quantum leap over a stock nitro, but as you stated the mod Nitro's were not even close to stock. The stock procross chassis is three years old. The 12 cat race chassis was based off it and was pretty much a turd. The 13 Cat race chassis is wayyyyyy different. Tremendously improved. Improvements will be made for 14 as well. The key fact is that the viper will enable the average rider to enter a stock XC race and be at least competitive, which is something a stock viper never was. Its good for Yamaha to get back in the game. Ben Lindbom is a tremendous talent, and there as some other guys that have shown some promise. Will be interested to see who races what in the 4 stroke class in the Cor series out in WI. Something to have a beer and talk about over the summer!

2laps what is the differences in the 12 and 13 Cat race chassis?
They are very different sleds. Completly changed geometry in both the front and the skid. Diferent length shocks up front. Vastly improved brakes,(although they still suck compared to the old willwoods). Dozens of things. There is a great arcticle in Arctic Insider. I don't know how to do the link thing, but go there and search 2013 sno pro 600. The sleds look the same, and have basically the same motor, but thats about it. They are certainly not afraid to change things in the race sled if it is not panning out!

How close is the RR to the 13 XC race sled? Sorry for the questions but it looks like its important for us Yamaha guys to learn all we can about the cats.

I will go find that article.Thank You!

Wish I could help you more, but I really don't know much about the non race sleds. I have surpassed my 3 beer limit on what I should post anyway! You will really like the chassis! GN!
