XTX is garbage on trails.

XTX 137"? Same skid as us LTX sleds. Rotate bar with black plastic cubes behind rear scissor arm until smallest amount of plastic faces "pads" on scissor. Or remove blocks. Or remove bar altogether unless you have oversize rear wheels.[/QUOT

It’s the sidewinder xtx LE and there’s no such plastic cubes behind the scissor bars.

I don’t know about the touring cats, but the 146” in the Riot and in my Xtx it is an uncoupled suspension.
Its a new torsion linked uncoupled. A combo skid. Cross Action for Cat, Versattack for Winder. Reports I've seen are that it works good. Uses the same shocks as out LTX skids as well as far as I can tell.

My buddy hated it. Got rid of riot last year. Said it was not good on trail or off trail.

If I trade next year, I'll probably try this new 146 out.

Get into some tight turns on hard pack it’s not gonna be excellent.
You need to ride a properly set up 129” or a Poo 121” track machine more often, then you would realize your sleds is far from excellent on most hard trails.
Ditch the cool looking bar risers, long tracks, and monster lugs (which should be illegal cause they ruin trails) for Wisconsin trail riding.
You won’t keep up with a 600cc 121” tracked sled on most wisconsin trails.

Its amazing how many guys I get behind every year on the trails blowing every inch of snow off the corners with monster lug long tracks.
Sweating like pigs at the gas station thinking they are going fast.

Just buy the right sled for the job, not the cool looking long track with big lugs.

:drink:
My set up works excellent for the type of riding i do, the trails i ride are not goat paths with 100 turns in a half mile but more open trails. Northern Maine, Northern Ontario and Quebec. as far as suspension reaction and smooth ride, i have yet to ride a sled with stock from the factory shocks that work better than my XTX and i have ridden them all. Most owners ride the sled basically the way they bought it only adjusting the components they have, thats what all my friends do with there Doo and polaris 850's thats why when they ride mine they are blown away with how well my XTX handles on the trail. I did spend some money on shocks and skis for my XTX but the same would have to be done to any 129 because there shocks would need a major upgrade to match custom QS3R's on front and Custom axis on the rear. the 129's can hook up very good on hard pack trail and so does the XTX but again the XTX not only does it good on the hard pack it does it in 8 inches of fresh snow on the trail where the 129 will start to show weakness and forget about comparing the deeper snow capability's . If i am going to ride quad paths around my house i have a 92 Phazer for that, i can run it even in 3 inches of snow, not going to use my 280 HP turbo XTX for ditch banging or goat paths.

Good glad you have it working!
I don’t ride “Goat Paths” the majority of the trails in my area are basically winding and sharp corners. I do enjoy some straighter trails but prefer to ride challenging trails with more turns.
If you were to ride trails in my area you would realize quickly that the longer track sleds are lacking, it’s just a mater of physics.

So when you advise people on this forum that your sled handles exceptional you need to take into account the types of trails they ride. Handling imo means how well a sleds corners? Isn’t that what the OP is referring to here if I’m not mistaken?

It’s not very hard to setup a sled for big sweeping corners, it’s a different story for the trails around here, you need something that corners well to keep up.

Your XTX would be a great sled for ditch bang’in not sure why you wouldn’t use it?
Isn’t that the reason most buy an XTX, so you can have a happy medium and do both?

For the short amount of time I have spent on the machine I thought it handled ok. Little push but it seems like a reasonable compromise for me. Looking forward to getting it dialed in a little better.
