I’ve had good luck with these bushings.

I'll give these a try!
Who's are those? Just tried Thunder products, look the same, same miles.
They are yamaha stock.
You need an Apex clutch Doc. I used to go thru a set every weekend. Switched to an Apex clutch and problem solved.
I have used Thunder Product rollers for many thousands of miles on my SW and they have stood up well but I have pretty well always had an Apex clutch on it.
Yes, Apex clutch. I will definitely get one.
Primary rollers? 5000 plus miles on TAPP rollers look new
Hahaha...they better look new!! $2,000^

Does the Apex clutch utilize The Sidewinder primary Springs and arms/weights?

Never had a problem with roller wear since going to TAPP. Original rollers on the TAPP I purchased in 2018 with over 5,000 miles.
Actually swapped that same primary over to the 25’ and put another 1,300 miles on it and there is zero sign of wear and as you know I run a very aggressive, heavy set up.

Not sure if it makes any difference, but I did swap the bolts out to titanium out of the gate because I didn't like the bushings spinning on threads and the titanium bolts have more shoulder so there's no threats in contact with the bushings

Apex clutch you can transfer over weights, rollers and spring. Plastic washers for rollers are different width for each. So plastic washers for rollers only fit apex clutch.
Gforce rollers have been noted to hold up in winder clutch.
Have not run Gforce rollers in sidewinder clutch myself but I do have a brand new set on the shelf here in Marquette.

Thanks for that information, Tim....
If you go to the apex clutch check your alignment again. Some found it's the same while other like myself had to add a shim behine the secondary. Blunder should have one. https://kingblunderenterprises.com/
Im going to order those rollers you suggested to get thru this year.
In the off-season I'll put effort into getting an Apex primary. I'll pay attention to alignment. Thanks for the tip!!

Hmmm.....these didn't last long. Is there something a little more robust to replace them with? Appx 600 miles....and a few good pulls.

I forget those days of roller bushing eating and belt blowing on the Winders stock primary. Both buddy and I switched to older RX-1 and Apex primary and completely fixed the problem on roller eating and belt blowing. I have since gone to the TAPP primary. I could get maybe 600 miles from a set of rollers if I took it real easy on the throttle, same with my buddy, if we used any throttle it'd eat as set up in one ride, Thunder Products rollers wore out the quickest. Stock bushings lasted twice as long. The winder primary is warped and starting to bind up on you. The old RX-1 and Apex primary's are stronger and mad form better Japan aluminum castings. I fully believe Yamaha had the Winder primary built in China with inferior materials, because looking at it, it should be stronger, but is not.

If you're going to buy a clutch, may as well get a TAPP and just be done with it, get the button TAPP and be done with the clutch rattle too.

Mike, im sure everything you say to be true & accurate. I can't understand why my primary would be warped, as it runs fairly cool, just pure garbage i suppose.
Dealing with a used RX1/Apex primary is another issue altogether, as I'm not sure what I'm getting just by looking at it?!?! Could be hacked up piece of trash, idk.
Then there's the thought of laying out $2,000 to make all my troubles go away. Definitely a significant purchase on a sled that's worth about $7000. Not to mention my age, seasonal woes & my passion to continue.
If anyone here has a used primary they'd be willing to part with please DM me.

It seems I see a few here and there on ebay. Unfortunately, I had a spare for an Apex, but I sold it a few years ago to a buddy.

I keep a couple new and a couple used primaries and secondaries for both my SW and Apex in "parts heaven' above my garage but I still operate 3 sleds that one day may need one so not willing to part with them.

FYI - I paid 450 for a very low mileage 14 Viper clutch recently from Blunders. It was actually for one of our vipers as the previous owner must have went the same exact speed and it got a groove in the sheave. Gives you an idea for price for a good unit though. (Less than 1k miles)

I found one on ebay, $500. It looks as though it has 20,000 miles on it. I'm thinking, " For god sakes at least clean it up"

It's the," What if?" rule. Lol...I follow that one myself.

Right on....Just a quick peek at things I'd support that kinda price. Just have to dig through the junk ones and the nice ones as they're both the same price. Haha.

RX1/Apex primary. What are the distinguishing characteristics so that I know what I'm buying especially through the internet?
