2012 AK sled build

I have 3.25 qrts of oil in it which is about 6.5 lbs, about .75 gal. of 50/50 antifreeze which should be about 7 lbs, and a gallon of gas which is 6 lbs. so I'm figuring 20 lbs of fluids in it as it sits now. I'd really like to see it come in under 470 lbs. I will admit I'm extremely nervous to weigh it.

Regardless of what this one weighs in at though, I can promise you I'll build a turbo 4-stroke under 400 lbs, it might just take me a couple years.

Still a hell of a sled as it sits... a sled under 400 lbs would be amazing...

That is what I want is a long term project to build a 200hp 400lb wet sled. I haven't been able to piece together the components yet that will make this happen but should I get a list I think I will start slowly building it. Nice thing is there would be no rush and I have a sweet azz sled to ride while I build it.

You go first and save me some work HAHA

Hahaha, I am going to start collect the parts for a new chassis in a few months. This next one will be an entirely new build so I won't have to rob parts from my current sled.

and you'll still be able to go riding! Awesome job. I think what hooked me on this thread was your idea for the subframe ... it was so different from anything else and yet just looking at it you could tell it was light and strong. From then on, it was one new idea after the next. The engineers at Yamaha could use a guy like you.

Now that it's done, I can't wait to see some pics of the sled with the mountains in the background! You deserve to get some riding in ... and I'll bet Ricky and Drew could use the company. Go have some fun ... Just don't break it. ;)!

Subtract almost exactly 20 lbs for fluids, and 6 lbs for three ratchet straps and I'll add a pound to be safe. 449 lbs dry weight. I weighed it four times with the straps in different positions just be sure.

Sub 400 lbs would be extremely difficult but there's no doubt it's possible with some exotic materials.

DAAANNGGGG that is awesome.

I think your right 400lb weight on anything boosted 4 stroke will be darn near impossible. Even if you got it there having it live through beating after beating would be another story. Yours is probably as light as you can get and still be strong.

Nice job, my favorite part is the wiring I thought your were fricken nuts when I saw that but that is quite a bit of weight there, way more then I expected. Your a innovator on a lot parts of that sled and I appreciate that you posted so many pictures and how tos!!!

Now most importantly how does it ride and handle?

wow what an amazing building, I've read this thread now for several months and are excited to see how good you are and build.
But I've also seen your socks hanging over the fitness machine for several months now hehe.
