2015 MN TY Ride

So this is what no snow looks likes... Only 4 of us made the ride on Saturday, but we had a great time! We got a nice little snow on Friday, snowed pretty much all day in Ely. Thursday I got up there and Rob (sr540) was there waiting, we unloaded and took a short ride. About 40 miles, it was cold Thursday night. Friday morning Brandon (BlueIronRanger) joined us, and we headed into Ely via the powerline and my sled wasn't running right, we got to town ate breakfast and after breakfast, I changed plugs and found out that I had a frozen carb and stuff getting eating in the cylinder, so I gave up for the day, Brandon & Rob rode another 85 miles (I think that what they said). I went to work on my second sled which was leaking gas & I found, what I had expected, I put the oil line between the pumps on backwards and the pressure popped the line off the oil pump. I got that fixed and we rode almost 190 miles on Saturday with Mark (Yamadoo) joining us. I did have a cold seize on my second sled and the very end of the ride, I haven't looked at it yet, so I'm not sure what damage it did. According to Rob, we put 300 miles on for the weekend, (he got there with a new Viper that had 35 miles on it and left with 335 miles on the odometer). I'm glad we got to help him break it in. Anyways, I had a great time, I hope the other guys can say the same thing.

BTW... Rob (sv540) I hope you got home OK, I didn't hear anything, so I'm hoping no news is good news. (Rob's truck didn't like the -30s on Sunday morning we spend a few hours coaxing it to start.)

Thanks Again to Andy.

I went home sat night, only 7 below so I missed the minus thirty, after 190 miles of good running on the Viper. I have topped 500 miles now so soon for oil change, adjust track , adjust chain tension and my YAMAHA heated seat to be installed. Was to be standard on STX DX but not installed, but got a nice call from the dealor-RJ's Duluth, saying to bring the sled in and have the seat installed when it arrived no complaints from me Yamaha just caught it on their own. Would have been nice as temps dropped on Sat night. Rob said it was nice on his RTX DX. Hope all made it home safely.

Sounds like you guys had a good time. Sorry I missed it, but with the kid playing ball in the winter it just doesn't work out very well timing wise (expect for last year!) Maybe next year:) Sorry to hear that Andy was giving everyone a class in motor burndown 101 :)

Hey Andy, made it home fine. Just needed to get my truck out of that -30 degree weather. That was my first TY ride- hope it won't be the last. Fantastic time with you, Brandon, and Mark. Wonder what Tom is thinking now after looking at your "no snow" pic. lol Thanks again for everything.
Rob

We are heading up to Ely Thursday night for the weekend. You guys that are familiar with the area have any suggestions for things to do or see while were up there? Any places or trails to avoid? First and only trip of the year so I have my fingers crossed. Any snow would be better than we have down here...

I couldn't think of anywhere to avoid up there. The trails are nice right now, and the people are always awesome. I'm heading back up this weekend as well, I'll be staying at Side Lake this time though, but I'm sure we'll be riding toward Ely though, that's where the snow is the best right now.

Glad you made it home Rob.
