Looks like about 8 different vipercats for 15. Cool..
So I feel I can speak for lots of Apex owners, there's nothing close to the thrill of this motor, but 10 years in the same chassis, with a few changes, all I can say is wow!
Maybe I'm dreaming but throw in the new 998cc crossplane and drop some lbs., with some new styling, in a fresh chassis, and I will drop the cash!!!
Time for a new look for our FLAGSHIP rocket! Humans are impatient, Yamaha make us APEX owners and other brand riders bow down to a new APEX. Soon

2015 Sleds
I could handle the "Cat" in the ski handle and skid rails for 2014 but it would sure be nice to see a "Viper" to give the machines their own identity. The new Vipers look like they have more specific Yamaha requirements but cosmetically it would be nice to see some differences.

None of those sleds are even close to how well and precise and flat and smooth a doo etec is. - Just LOL
Even yammie/and cat guys all agree its hear impossible to have any sled ride as smooth and handle as precise as a mxz X etec. - On the floor laughing at this point. Can't even respond to the rest of your tripe.

LOL at your entire post. Blather much? You and JTSSRX are funny. And you are doing a disservice to your years as a contributing member of this site.
Sorry dude but I own a 1200 doo and a viper turbo xtx and the xtx is the handler of the two. Etec is just a garbage motor - I've got probably 500 miles on my buds '13 800 fleatec this year because he can't get off my viper when we trade. Guess what he is trading it on on for next season? Glad you like your sled but keep the stories and cheerleading where it belongs. Dootalk.
I will never ride a sled built by cat again. So as long as Yamaha is pumping its sleds out of cats factory they can keep them. What I find funny about your post is the procross is a copy cat of the doo chassis. The front end is very nice on the cat but the rear doesn't hold a candle to the rmotion.
I said my heart belongs to Yamaha but that's not good enough. I have to be in full on blue goggle mode to make you happy!!

I'm sure someone has said the following:
"4 strokes mean I ain't gotta buy a new one every 3,000 miles, sumbitch will last forever."
And then:
" I want a new one, like the Doo, or procross, or Polaris, only different, like a Yamaha."
You guys will be pissed in a couple days when Cat releases the new chassis won't you?

Doo fans say it was a copy... You can clearly see almost everything about the procross is based off of their 08-11 sno pro chassis. Those rmotions do work wonders though!

In the business world it's 3 letters.... R O and I

Pretty much all Japanese companies won't spend the money unless the ROI meets their guidelines, which are very stringent.

Good point. I think the % of business that sleds constitute Yamaha's business, they have made the production decision that best compliments their bottom line. Hence the AC contract which was expanded this year as expected.
I think the Viper is a great overall sled if they manage the QC of the end product.

Yep Yamaha missed the mark again. Their short sighted approach to ROI looks like it will only work for trail segment. Cat 1100T's are holdovers for $4000 less with factory boost. I guess that the Japanese don't have an equivalent expression for "making a silk purse from a sow's ear".

The crossplane engine is not a step forward for a sled motor! This has been said over and over.
Why fix what is not broken, I love my XTX best trail sled ever! I'ts a huge refinement from 10 years ago and the chassis is night and day different from the 2003. What they has done is make perfect better. So many want change for change sake.

Re: 2015 Sleds
100% agree I think if they made diff body panels atleast from day 1 it wouldn't have been as big a issue as the partnership has been .

Couch. Enjoy that 1100t. Last year at the demo rides one blew a few $200+ dollar belts and caught a poor Yamaha rider on fire. Worst part was it was dealer sled not a demo from factory. And all this in first half of first day. I'm thinking Yamaha is the winner all day long here
