8dn belt dust

ha! got it, but then won't you be further away from the powerband? or is that just the compromise I gotta make?
 
I am also experiencing lots of belt dust with my 8dn and when I ran the 8jp... I tried heavier secondary spring to get more squeeze but that made it hotter then I blew the 8dn.

Where are you running now? With belt change it will drop about 200rpm Maybe you will find it goes faster even with lower rpm but if it doesnt just remove some wieght from primary to get what you had back. If your belt was slipping you may not even know what your true Max RPM is right.
 
I think i am going to try a new 8jp but i am also curious about the dayco xtx
 
i switched belts looking for a little more top end put found i am getting the exact same speed around 145km/h with the 8dn but much more dust but saying that i found after about 800km the 8jp with done after hard use it was inconsistent put a new belt on and it would be just like new for another 800km this sled spends more time on the back bumper then on the ground with alot of wot on the ponds so i don't expect to get forever out of a belt.
 
I'm seeing the opposite with the 8dn belt dust issue. I still get some but nothing even close to what I was seeing running the 8jp. I'm running Ulmers machined secondary for the 8dn with a red spring and a 2/2 twist. It's a definite improvement over stock. I ran it down a dirt road with minimal snow coverage, more like an ice layer and did get 101 mph ( on Garmin gps) and felt like I could have run faster but ran out of room.
 
I just picked up a new 8jp I'll clean the tunnel and try it out for 400km same as I got the 8dn on for and see if there is a difference in dust

Same here. Is reason I switched. I had 5 8JP belts and thought I was set for life. 500mi later big time belt dust,black clutches and very inconsistant. Change belt clean everything up and good to go again. 500mi later same thing.
 
I have a brand new 8dn I am going to use. How long do I have to be nice to my belt before WFO runs ?
 
Ya that's the most I was getting out off them was 500mi I'm sure the 8dn will last longer but I don't like the slipping I'm getting I think I'd rather replace 2 8jps every season then losing speed/power from slippage
