Apex Backcountry Build

Your sled looks great. This is exactly what I want to do to my 07 RTX!

Just got pointed to your link. Awesome sled. You are going to love the ZX-2 144" I have the same thing in mine. I've been looking for some inside tunnel pics for a custom ZX-2 mounting bracket that will accomodate various setbacks. You had a few pics that helped me out. Where do you go to school at?

Have to wait and see I guess. I hope the stiffer boards have bigger holes in them too, so that when I am in bumper deep snow this weekend they can evacuate the snow.

Most likely the last post about my sled this year.

I got my first ride on it this last weekend. And wow what a difference in deep snow and trail riding. More on that later. First,

I got WRP Mountain Tuff running boards for my sled. For a quick review and how they installed check this out. http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=80347

Basically, they installed pretty easy for have to slightly modify them for shorty Apex's (they are designed for the MTX's) and not having good tools to cut out the old boards.

They stiffened up the boards a ton. Which is what I mainly wanted them for. The boards barely flex now. Also they help get rid of now the boards quite a bit. Way better than stock. Did'nt take any pictures when installing :o| . And I don't really have any good pictures of them installed. Here is what I do have. The second picture is right after deep snow riding and just a quick sweep of my foot across the board.

The sled worked awesome. I forgot to put the revolver pins for the ZX-2 in my suspension, as I took one out over summer to buy another one from the hardware store and never put them back in, oops.

In deep snow, it was way better than last year. I could actually float on top the snow a bit and not trench everywhere I go.

The same could not be said for YamYboy's XRTX :tg: :tg:

With the sway bar off- I could easily tip the sled over off trail. Almost to easy. It was pretty nice. However the sled was worse on the trail due to the longer track and no swaybar. It was definitely a big bear to throw around on the trails. The clutching/rpms were really close, a little adjustment may be needed.

I look forward to getting more miles on this thing and testing it out more. I know a few others on here have this same setup. If you guys have any questions let me know.

WHAT???? O wait that was before YamYboy's plug and play turbo! :jump: :jump: :jump:

Good to hear you like the sled! Did you race your Dad's Nytro or YamYboy's Nytro? How about your Dad's stock nytro VS YamYboy's Nytro?

Shoot, I forgot to do that.

I raced YamYboy a few times, from a roll on at about 20 or 30 it was dead even the whole race with full throttle for at least a 6 or 7 seconds. From a stop, I beat him out of the whole, as his skis picked up off the ground and tried to take me out. Pretty close racing though between the two of us.

I am going to have no chance then, when you have your K&N air filters giving you an additional 20hp.

20hp!!!! Is that at mid range or top end?

Thanks to both of you last night helping me with my sled.

tell me more about your trail experience. i don't like the way it sounded being worse then before because of the longer track? do you think it was just because of the sway bar being out? also can you do a comparison from your 121 to the 144
