Nytro Freeride build (2013 build page 27)

For the track tension on the ice age rails I wanted to use the ski-doo race sled tension blocks however the holes do not line up with the Iceage holes.

Here is a doo Rev 440 tensioner.....

The TYmember that sold me the rails (sorry dude can't recall your user name) also made some blocks that were just like the doo ones that fit the Iceage mount holes.

It's harder then you think to find a 3/8 bolt that is greater then 3", has threads all the way up and is strong enough for the job. I ended up finding one at the John Deere dealer.

I was also missing one of the spacers from the 440 parts, then I found this in the old bolt box!! Sometimes the sled gods smile on you.

Here is the finished product.

Custom made tension block, Doo mount hardware, JD tension bolt and doo spacer.

I debated mounting the tensioner on the inside like Polaris does but in the end I just stuck to what I am use to and mounted it on the outside the way my OFT ones were.

For where the tension bolt meets the axel I again wanted to do what do does on the race sleds. I simply used the stock axel spacers and put a hole in them that lines up with the bolt.

Doo 440 on left Nytro spacer on right.. Note the difference in axel size....

The axel mounted up in the skid....

I ran into another reason to ditch the cross shaft transfer stop idea. I want to run the rear idlers inside for a cleaner look and there isn't clearance with the shaft in place.

So the skid is done and ready to mount in the sled. The Polaris sliders are thick, the Excell wheels are just touching the table in this pic. However before I put the sliders on it was sitting a nice distance up, so I should get a ton of slider wear off the start then slow down.

Finally got to see what the paint job looks like with the sled all together.....

Went for a test ride and everything worked great. Sled ran awesome and the 144" track seems to be rotating around the new skid as it should!
