Asphalt Results 2004

Thanks Matt, I will pick one up.

Went to the track last night. It was import cat night to also bring the family mini-van down and race it. (no big cars were there...) So, needles to say there was minimal glue down... (There was no 9.3's in my sled at the track last night :? )

I was working on some more clutching setups last night and found some more gains... with in 20min between runs I gained 60ft-.022 and in the 1/4mi I gained 9.65 down to a 9.58. This was at 10:51pm and the dew was settling in...

Best run of the night was:
60ft - 1.44et (Ranged from 1.44 to 1.48 )
1/4mi - 9.58 @ 134.1 (Ranged from a 9.58 to 9.66 with all the clutching changes that I was doing)

I'm still at 8lbs of boost and plan on staying there. (man, i love my trail sled... LaLaLa )
I know that there is more to be gained because there are a few more issues with my skid and that also can help me...
Oh yea… I made it to the final’s and got second. Got beat by .04. Yea, another trophy…

Thanks,

Hey Kevin - I have 4 races left at Kaukauna, Sept. 11,19,26, and 1 final gamblers race on Oct. 9th. Union Grove stays open later, till the end of October, so I can go down there yet this year.

Was out on the tar this weekend, tried throwing more weight at the clutch as suggested to load down the motor and get more mph and ET out of it, but it just seemed to lose on both, the rpm was down to about 9600 on it. So we went back to a little less weight then what I've been running with and we had our best run of the day (not the best ever).
Sunday, and Monday went left it as is, with the head wind on Sunday I was running around 11.40 at 105-108mph. Went right to the final again and got trigger happy, yep red light :o| .
On Monday we went back (after little sleep and a few to many), reaction time sucked but we made it to the semi finals and got beat due to reaction time, something like a .607. With tail winds we were doing 11.25 times and I made it just past the 112mph mark, there's gotta be more there!!!
Taking to BlackJohn last night and he gave me a few things to try out and we will probably play with carberation before the next time out which is the Blown Alcohol Wild Bunch on the 18th and 19th. You guys in and around Winnipeg should check it out! Anyway I've got some pics from last weekend I'll try and post up here later.

What a busy weekend!!!

Saturday 9/11/04 - 88 Degrees with 96% humidity. Sunny, and track temp was 118. head wind of 20+mph

1st time run - spunlike crazy
1.541 60ft. - 7.047 1/8 mile @ 93.444mph - 11.398 1/4 mile @ 110.216mph.

2nd time run - same #$%^
1.557 60ft. - 7.042 1/8 mile @ 94.137mph - 11.365 1/4 mile @ 110.270mph.

3rd time run - requested it due to spinning problems, they accepted
1.482 60ft. - 7.001 1/8 mile @ 94.216mph - 11.287 1/4 mile @ 111.207mph.

Round 1 - spun a little and hit the brakes thinking the other guy would break out, but he got me on the holeshot. Dialed 11.23
1.523 60ft. - 6.997 1/8 mile @ 94.414mph - 11.307 1/4 mile @ 107.582mph. Lost round 1

Drove to Hay Days after the races, and had a great time! Met some more TY'rs, and talked to lots of Yamaha people. Nice meeting everyone!!!!

Terry, you would have had some good ET without that head wind, your 60 foot times are really good! I was intending to get to hay days this year for the first time and wish I could have, but it was my dad's 90th and we have a little partyyyy for him. That only comes once in a lifetime!!!!! Going out again this coming weekend as long as the weather holds, second last weekend of the season, Wild Bunch is out again.

hlmrx1 - The headwind plays a big factor with mph and Et's, especially with 20-30mph headwinds. The 1.482 60ft. run without the headwind would have probably been in the 11.05-11.08 area. Wish the track went the other way, but can't have everything.

Thanks Phil!

Sunday 9/19/04 - Weather was awesome, 71 degrees with 43% humidity. Only bad part, was the 15mph headwind.

1st time run - spun, like always. Track temp was 112 degrees.
1.522 60ft. - 6.940 1/8 @ 96.567mph - 11.225 1/4 @ 111.578mph

2nd time run - spun, like always.
1.529 60ft. - 6.972 1/8 @ 94.947mph - 11.257 1/4 @ 111.543mph

1st round - got stuck in the bad lane again! Rocks everywhere! (remember WIR has gravel for pits.)
Spun soo bad off of the line, it went sideways, and put me inches away from the guardrail. I was soo angry, I went and complained, but of course they did nothing. Dialed 11.25
1.545 60ft. - 7.057 1/8 @ 95.292mph - 11.363 1/4 @ 110.375mph

As luck would have it, the 1st place and 3rd place went out the same round, so I am still in 2nd place.

Hey Everyone!

Here is the good news! Sunday 9/26/04

When I went to the track and checked points, I found out that I was pushed to 4th place, not in 2nd place anymore. Boy, was I bummed.

The day was perfect, 70 degrees with 36% humidity. Track temp was 68 but climbed to 94 by mid afternoon.

1st time run - Spun sooo bad, I had to let off, otherwise they would have been picking up plastic next to the guardrail. This setup was with Roc's clutching.
1.595 60ft. - 9.783 1/8 @ 85.342mph - 14.761 1/4 @ 82.697mph

2nd time run - Put on my other secondary with 47 straight helix, and green spring set at 60%. WORKED GREAT!
1.512 60ft. - 6.984 1/8 @ 94.433mph - 11.282 1/4 @ 111.153mph

3rd time run - put new belt on, but had a 12mph headwind
1.497 60ft. - 7.003 1/8 @ 94.809mph - 11.335 1/4 @ 110.623mph

1st round - Wind went down to 5mph, and humidity went down. Dialed 11.30 (watch how close I was to my dial!)
1.514 60ft. - 6.987 1/8 @ 93.938mph - 11.306 1/4 @ 110.665mph
Both redlighted, but I left 2nd. Won 1st round!

2nd round - Had the bye run. WOO HOO!!!!! Dialed 11.30
1.508 60ft. - 6.977 1/8 @ 93.974mph - 11.300 1/4 @ 110.543mph
Won 2nd round!

3rd round - same conditions. Dialed 11.29
1.487 60ft. - 6.967 1/8 @ 94.146mph - 11.290 1/4 @ 108.279mph
Other guy broke out, but I ran on my dial! Won 3rd round!

4th round - Dialed 11.28
1.495 60ft. - 7.020 1/8 @ 93.754mph - 11.346 1/4 @ 109.958mph
drifted towards centerline, and couldn't run the number. Lost Semifinal

Ended the season 2nd in points after 19 races. Not too damn bad!

Will be representing Wisconsin at the IHRA Nationals in Cordova Illinois this weekend, and hope to run the numbers there also.

Wish Me Luck!!!!!
