I normally lead our group cause no one else wants too. Couple times this season others led. Both times I thought to myself boy they are cooking. Well first or second time they meet sleds all of a sudden the pace slows down and almost come to stop on blind corners! And Snowbeast made a very important point about the second rider. Usually not as skilled and playing catchup. Even if a guys a A-hole rider almost all who own sleds have family nobody wins in a accident and we all need to ride like its the family coming at us. So glad nobody died or was paralyzed etc. Thanks for reminder.

Not trying to minimize what actually happened but those sleds look to be in pretty good shape given what happened !Well, my season ended 2 Weeks ago on family day weekend. Some jackass on doo flew around a corner, lost it and hit me head on. Had a nice helicopter ride to the hospital, broken collarbone and broken bones in my face. Surgery last week to put plates and screws to push my cheek bone back out. Good times!
Limited snow, so everyone flocking to where the snow is. Guys. Slow down around blind corners. I like riding as hard as the next guy, but it’s certainly not worth the next 3 months being down and out. Not preaching, just saying!
The doo-sh was charged with careless driving, which doesn’t heal my broken bones, but will hopefully slow him down in the future.
Sled is a write off. I loved it. Bummed out!!
Cheers everyone.
What damage did you have to your winder ?

Just glad you're ok. Hopefully recovery is fast for you. Good reminder to drive defensively. You never know if an idiot is around the corner.

Very scary. I’m at the point where I hate tight twisty trails anymore. Heal up. Good luck

It’s not like he can replace a few plastics and hit the trail. The entire left side front suspension is crushed. Probably affected motor placement. I’d be amazed if his sled is not totaled. I’d sure want it totaled if it was mine. Not trying to minimize what actually happened but those sleds look to be in pretty good shape given what happened !

Gmax 54s modular. I wonder if that’s why my face is broken. I believe the other rider flew off his sled and torpedoed me with his helmet in the side of my head / collar bone. Maybe a regular helmet would have had better results??
There is only a mark on the side of it. Other than being full of blood from my nose, it looks fine - although will be garbage now of course.
Damage sled was bad. Entire front left was crushed including the computer behind the front tunnel. Primary clutch trashed. Innercooler damaged. Will be interesting to see how bad the first offer is from the insurance company. Fully expecting to loose my shirt on a sled I’ve had a year and 1 month.

I sunk my spring ordered 06 Apex GT at the end of the the second season and I got more than I could have sold it for.
I’m running the same helmet which I like. Hmmm.

Have had many close calls over the years in Olf Forge,Tug Hill and even Quebec. This is one of the reasons I am so hesitant to let my 13 and 14 year old kids go with me. So many inexperienced riders on fast sleds. Whenever I lead my neck hurts from peeking around blind corners before entering. I will say that most close calls are Doo doos!! Sometimes I just like cruising down our big 31 mile lake and not dealing with trail traffic. Glad you are OK PowderFalcon. Sleds can be replaced but people or body parts can’t.

Hope your recovery goes well.
I understand running down the center of the trail when its empty but around a corner if you cant hug your side of the trail, your just going too fast.
Last weekend riding from Munising to Seney the trails were so choppy, the only way to smooth out the ride was to go 80mph +, coming into the turns i slow down to 30mph or less and stay on my side of the trail.
Guess what was coming around the corner straight at me past the center of the trail, a lady on a snowmobile with 2 kids in tow on a plastic sled behind her, which fish tailed directly in front of me, i barely avoided them by turning into the sticks, none of them wore helmets, what are people thinking, i dont need something like that on my conscience.

I was wondering if it was a conventional full face or modular. Where the swing up facepiece latches does it appear that did not hold up? Seems the helmet had to flex. Realized a few times on my modular the flip up face was not properly latched. The side of the helmet can flex a bit into the cheek. Castle X EXO 950.

It stayed latched even after impact. Everything is still intact. But I agree, there is potential for flex.

I'm one of the guys with a Gopro and standing up and usually lead our group, but i'm very specific about staying on my side. We prefer to sled from Monday to Friday and even Friday afternoons start to get scary with the weekend warriors. Standing up helps you see a few seconds sooner around blind corners. This year we were in Gaspe and trying to get back to our trucks on a Saturday. we met several parties that showed no respect for others. I met one group of four in a tight blind corner and just managed to get stopped as he flew by. i could see the whites of his eyes as he freaked and passed me on my side of the trail. Then his three buddies barreled by also like they owned the trailed. They still even forced our last guy off the trail and he was eight sleds back.
