I'm running the TP orange secondary with 35/39 with no issues and studded aggressive at 280R. Clutches run cool. I think 50 is the way to go. I actually tried 70 at first and snapped a old belt in half at 120+, clutches were still cool but it was drifted lake with bare ice patches and then snow, so it was jerking pretty good with traction. Since been running at 60 with no issues but may drop to 50 setting.

Fell behind on this thread and how come all of us aren't having these issues? I put my sled thru hell everytime I run it and clutch temps are cool, belt life is good (2017 asphalt season racing and 464 miles with a gazillion tests and back to back runs with the 33/35 helix).
Studding does increase belt stretch.
Does the 33/35 or any reverse helix work? It revs the engine quick and keeps the rpm there, then uses the pull of the engine when the steeper angle comes in.
Not all of us are on the same page with clutching....some are changing primary springs, some are totally different kits all together. Need to make small changes, 1 at a time to see if it is the helix, the orange spring or whatever.
The Orange secondary spring is a little more side pressure than stock, but it is because the orange is less coils than the stock to keep the spring from binding. The Orange has a little more twist , but max. twist is the same. This was made to raise the lower rpm and build boost fast.

If going to 2-3 is helping...I will get a hold of Lonn and let him know.

Just to clarify. If running a aftermarket helix (dalton, whoever) they have extra clearance in the spring pocket so no need to shim if
you go back to the stock secondary spring?
you go back to the stock secondary spring?

Why all reverse angle? I have no doubt the straight 38* should be good....I like your thinking.. I run The TD eco trail. Pretty mild tune(good though). I really like the straight 38.. If I would try any other helix(not straight angle) it would be a 38/35 OR 39/36 .

Reverse angle gets the turbo spooling faster with the less angle and then makes the engine work with the slightly steeper angle

The thing is not every tune needs reverse angle to spool the turbo. Try that reverse on the Hurricane race tune and it will over rev very hard! The tune makes the engine spool on the race tunes and you have to run bigger start helixs to shift it fast.
You have to quit telling people to run these reverse angle helixs, although they may work on the EVO and possibly a very few other tunes, its bad advice for others, wasting money and slowing some way down from where they could be running.

This new info from Hurricane is new to me Mike, I can't see where the same hpr tune can be so different...but if it is....then it is. Your post in the other thread tells me the Hurricane flash is different because it builds boost faster. As mentioned, this is all new to me and if this is true....then we have found a problem with some sleds blowing belts.
I don't work for Thunder Products and don't collect a paycheck from them....same with EVO. Yes, we tested the spring and reverse helix on a bunch of setups, sleds with flashes in all types of conditions and it worked great. But GOD forbid we didn't test on a Hurricane flashed sled.
We are all here to help and if there is a problem like you mentioned after my last post here....then so be it. I was simply answering the guys question.
Then Hurricane needs to tell their customers to not order a reverse angle helix. I will contact Lonn and tell him the same thing....not to sell reverse helix's to Hurricane flashed sidewinders.

Ran mine on the updated Evo Stage 4 tune with the 33/35 and hit the rev limiter instantly. Showed 9750. I think it spools pretty quick now.The thing is not every tune needs reverse angle to spool the turbo. Try that reverse on the Hurricane race tune and it will over rev very hard! I think everyone here is just sharing info and trying to help out fellow Winder owners. I'm sure there is still lots of unknown variables and changes that will need to be made. I would hate to think that anybody would blame a fellow Winder owner for suggesting something that didn't work for them. Everything is a crap shoot and sometimes things change. Nobody here wants to give bad or wrong info and I think we all need to refrain from pointing fingers and just help each other out.

Thanks...
That's all i'm trying to do is help... Trying to find answers and fixes to a belt blower that was from the beginning.
If my info is all wrong, then it is. Can't say we didn't try.
