Yes there is a issue. The Taper on bolts bottoms out on the shaft before it is tight enough to squeeze the sheetmetal of the unit. Thats why even though mine were tight and Loctited they still spun wearing the sheetmetal chamfer big time. Only proper fix for this is the new adjuster. My new one tightens enough to squeeze it properly. Shaft is hardened so cannot be modded. Old ones seem close enough that a spotweld would keep it from spinning but the right way is to do both.Where can we get proper fitting bolts? Is there an issue with the taper on the factory bolts?

So, would my 2018 have the updated tensioner?
According to parts fisches yes it should but I wouldnt count on it. I have seen all kinds of things on these sleds that dont comply with the paperwork. Wish they would put a Paint mark or something on the newer parts to id but that would require a minute extra on the line. Only way to know is to remove it and remove screws, clean, check fit, reloctite and then put back on. Other option which is much easier is to just spot weld it and hope that holds. So, would my 2018 have the updated tensioner?

What year and model were you looking at Cannondale?According to parts fisches yes it should but I wouldnt count on it. Old Part#
New Part #
New Part #
2018 LTX Late Model is listed as the new part # but that doesnt mean anything. Sorry. Only way to know is to actually get hands on or take your chances. They are constantly changing things. This is good but can be very confusing. If it were Yamaha they wouldnt change ever during the year and lucky to change in ten years. I prefer change immediate. At least shows effort. But the downside is you will not know what you have. Welcome to Cat.What year and model were you looking at Cannondale?

The dam counter sink isn’t cut deep enough into the threaded axle shaft, the bolt bottoms out in the axle before it’s tight on the metal arm.Where can we get proper fitting bolts? Is there an issue with the taper on the factory bolts?

It’s not the bolts, counter sink the axle shaft threads further. Or just weld it.Where can we get proper fitting bolts? Is there an issue with the taper on the factory bolts?

I looked up a 14 Viper, and it shows the part number supercedes. But when I looked up a 17 Winder, the newest number was standard, that's why I asked.2018 LTX Late Model is listed as the new part # but that doesnt mean anything. Sorry.
