Yes it would be nice if new part #'s and sled Manufacturing dates could be matched but it seems to be a very broad range. Only way to know for sure is to look. Was same thing for the motor change on Vipers in 16. Some had new and some had old.

I would hope that this would be a recall, with a bulletproof tensioner, as the consequences of this coming apart at speed are catastrophic and could be dangerous. Doesn't take long to replace. Too many instances and no pattern....could be any model. Jmo.

IMO, every single sled needs to be looked at. I know that's a tall order but there's no other way to know.

Agreed. I hoped I had a good one...great belt life, no issues except a missing turbo bolt. But my chain case and tensioner wasnt long for this world...IMO, every single sled needs to be looked at. I know that's a tall order but there's no other way to know.

That’s a Yamaha problem. Arctic Cat had the plastic foot in there for years. No screws to come loose. Yamaha decided to put that wheel in there in 2017.

Exactly.... That’s when the Yamaha engine went into that Viper. Yamaha went to the roller for improved “durability”. Don’t get me wrong... the cat chassis has many issues... but the roller isn’t their baby.

So you are saying the auto tensioner Cats used to have is a better more reliable system than the roller? Really!Exactly.... That’s when the Yamaha engine went into that Viper. Exactly why I never bought a cat, yet this was cat country. One guy gets a good one, another guy gets a lemon. You just never knew.Yamaha wanted a roller

No.... But they made a simple $50 kit that would make the auto tensioner a manual tensioner while keeping the plastic slider as the tensioner. It had a cotter pin that never failed.... So they got it half right. Lol
