Yeah not sure what the old offset tool had for back of clutch offset, but will say never had a Yamaha with belt problems, and that tool was right on for stock clutches.
Older Yamaha’s where also easy to line up by eye with secondary in both full positions.
Yes I have been welcomed into the yamacat world, and I do like the chassis and engine. there are a few things that I frown upon but that goes with all sleds that I have owned.
I had the dealer set mine up which was part of the tune package. Should of asked how they do their offset and if they have a tool like the older model Yamaha’s. He did say that the .61 end of the spec is where they like to see them at.

.61, polar opposite of this discussion. No info sucks.Yeah not sure what the old offset tool had for back of clutch offset, but will say never had a Yamaha with belt problems, and that tool was right on for stock clutches.

Someone use to make a simple clutch offset tool.
My buddy bought one for his SRX back in the day. I have used it on most of my Yamaha’s to check clutch lineup.
I’m sure he still has the set, it also came with a blue adjustable center to center measure. Came in handy for when I rebuilt and had to reinstall the 2 smokes.
Simply held it on the back of the primary and watched where the offset bar met with the secondary. Left the bolt off the secondary so you could pull the secondary away and then bring it in and watch where it makes with the secondary.
Anyone making something like that for the winders? They are tough to line up without taking much apart.
Sled Pro use to make a great one. Slide on the secondary shaft and down over the center post of the primary. 3 pins for alignment. Still have one from my SRX.

Had a member notice in the video I have the STM quick adjust on the primary, he asked if it was rubbing cause STM said he would have to "cut" a hole in the panel for it to work. I have at least a .25" before it touches the panel, it made a imprint in the sound proof but that's it.
With my offset so off...my motor has to be in further than others hence the quick change not touching panel as mentioned by STM cutting a hole in.
Ahhh I'll be a the bar throwing darts at a chart of this will fix it... if anyone wants to join.

and that was my point earlier....certain sleds the motor was east and west is slightly off...or back then would move..unlike the old sled...I think there's no way to move the motor inward?

Obvious difference in manufacturing & assembly then. Its sickening to me to have this massive problem with my new sled. Blew a big hole in the bellypan at about 300 miles and gotten worse ever since. Does your belt track straight or dogleg like the video? Would be very helpful to compare your properly working setup to this. There's a lot of guys that haven't blown a belt like myself. 3500kms, 1500 of them with power trail

Not sure, never had to check but I can guarantee its straight or else I'd be blowing belts too. I did check my offset and I'm near .61.Obvious difference in manufacturing & assembly then. What's your offset? That sucks for us
Maybe this could some?
I have STM's and found the stock clutches was the same with factory offset, may be a isolated satiation but you may want to check yours if you have a belt breaker.
I still had issues with the STM's as stock, hot "burn" hands... snap, explode belts, etc..
STM uses (Yamaha factory offset) only they have you measure offset different with their clutches than the factory user manual however it is the same exact offset as stock.
YOU MUST TAKE OFF THE CLUTCH GUARD to visually check if the belt is riding straight!!
Put aside the digital vernier's and use the ole' eyeball measuring device.
Long story short I removed a factory and STM supplied shims AND milled .125" to push clutch inward both STM and factory secondary to get it riding straight, clutches are warm not boiling this hopefully should fix "my" issue.
Some vids.
Removed all shims still wasn't enough.
Float to find sweet spot
Beautiful
I don't see the difference between video 1 and 4? Is the belt bending......hence you removed some material to push it closer to the frame?

What isnt it is a better question, lol. Ive tried adding a shim, removing both shims, etc, which is why I'm so interested in this thread. I just started another thread with a pic of my most recent belt. What's your offset?

Ok so you've had your offset at .61? I don't just mean adding a shim or removing a shim, a real measurement. What isnt it is a better question, lol. Yes, if you mean 61.1mm, that's what it was from the factory.Ok so you've had your offset at .61? I don't just mean adding a shim or removing a shim, a real measurement.
