Clutching on the cheap

Just saw this....looking now

Nos, how do you keep the rivet in the tip of the weight. I don't have an air rivet gun, any suggestions? Can I just peen it over or is there some kind of glue to use? Thanks

Lay the head of the rivet on an anvil or a substantial piece of flat steel. If you can't hit the other end of the rivet with a ball peen hammer try using a punch and a heavy hammer.

stingray, once again your true colors shine through. You have jumped on me and others in non clutching on the cheap posts generating my aditude with you however I still try to treat you with respect. I'am not going to wast any more space on this site arguing with you because you obviously know it all.

Also please don't respond to any of my posts again and I will do the same with you!

I too have felt your pain, we should start a talk group.lol

Seriously guys, can we please keep the bickering and arguing out of this thread?

It is 34 pages long already and it is hard enough for fellow TY members to extract the very useful information without having all of these additional off topic posts included.

I just tap the rivet with a hammer as described just enough to keep it in there. Head forward (direction clutch is spinning) in weight so centrifugal force keeps it in. Once I know it is correct and final rivet I have a punch with a concave tip. Peen it over good so its not ever coming out. The first step allows easier changes usually no drilling needed if done just right. Requires practice though and still a pain.

Okay this may sound like a dumb question but if I was to do just the stage 1 clutching on the cheap where its just the shim, what changes am I going to see exactly? Sorry if its been answered before tried reading all the pages and couldn't find it. also haven't touched clutches on the snowmobile before. thanks for any help guys
