On the weekend I noticed on my temperature on the intake was about 10-15 warmer with the aftermarket intake than a stock intake temperature reading while riding ( switch to another sled ). Anyone else notice this ?

Yup. It pulls under hood air but more of it with less restriction.

WAI. I have been through this with my pickup. They offer less restriction but let warm air in. They sound good but offer little in the way of major hp increases for a trail rider.

Yes, I noticed it last season. It should be called WAI or warm air intake, because its not cold or even cool!

I notice 100* air using a thermometer in front of the supposed CAI filter. So 100*F air being inhaled and this is with the filter shoved right up to the factory intake up front. I shoved the filter outside the hood and it got WAY leaner than I wanted to see.

I went back to the stock intake on my last ride out. Intake temps cooler along with cooler belt and clutches. Everyone thinks the stock box limits air to the clutches, but it actually gets more as its not being consumed by the engine and the cool air goes to the clutches easier.

The problem is the stock box is a bit more restrictive and the CAI or I'll call it WAI will pull more clutch weight it seems IF YOU CAN KEEP TEMPS BELOW 90-100F!

Hi guys, is there a way to block off warm air from eng, or pull out vent screen, my CAI has a pre filter on it,

So...sounds like the cai may not be the best idea for a strictly trail setup .?
Im not into radar run hp anymore .

I have a CAI and I watched the Air Intake Temperature today. I was between 45f to 60f. I don't recall what it was stock? Anyone recall?

My last trip with stock box was anywhere from 45/60. My cooler was plugged with snow and ice if that makes a difference

I was between 28-35F or so last time out up north with the stock box. Right around 10*F over air temp crusing and riding around. WFO pull and would heat up very fast though, but cooled down much better with the stock box over the CAI.

I have the stock box back on it again for now. It just plain runs cooler along with the belt and clutches.

Knapp do you have the google bag installed above your handle bars? There is so much heat in my bag. I am going to run it with the factory screen to see if that helps let the heat escape quicker.

I have the conical shaped CAI where the air is forced into front of it. Works great and was good for 5hp on dyno. Intake temps same as stock for me. Wont mention name but initials are A.K. whom I bought it from!

Do you not notice improved throttle response with the k&n setup ?

Ill have to take a look again..... why would clutches tun cooler with plastic airbox. ?
