I was speaking with Atlantic Rec in St. John's and they are able to do the flash now too but have not done any yet and I said I was going to hold off a little as I didn't want to be the first test subject LOLTwin Peaks Motorsports in Corner Brook,Newfoundland in Canada.

I have a 2016 and haven't had any starting issues. I have about 1,000 miles on it now. I do notice when I shut it off it seems to make a popping/kickback noise but it might be normal. I am bringing it to my dealer next week. Should I get it flashed?

Mine does it too, I'm taking mine in next week with a buddy who is also getting his 16 flashed. Brian told me there's a serial number range for affected models.
These are the only 2 models I got numbers for.
LTX DX last 3 numbers 122-750
RTX DX last 3 numbers 122-303
He said if your in those windows to bring it in, also said if your a few numbers outside those windows to still bring it in...

Picked my sled up , unfortunately I didn't pay enough attention on how it idled before I took it down (I wasn't aware they were gonna re flash it when I dropped it off) to compare it to now, But the service manager also told me the re flash is to cure the kickback as CooperT mentioned
This is the crap that scares me. Dealers just doing it without informing you first it well be done.
You should be informed of any changes being made BEFORE it is done.
It may not have been a problem for you but if they reflash mine i loose a $600 EVO powersports reflash.
i sent my apex in for a warranty repair on a leaking oil tank. Thats all that was supposed to be done.
When i picked it up they told me i never had the service bulletin completed for the updated bogie wheels.
I said to him, i changed them out myself with excell oversized wheels a few years ago.
He said, no you did not. Your wheels were stock, so we changed them. I got pissed and said i wanted my old wheels back and i was told they were trashed a few days prior.
I made such a scene, i Had to find a new dealer.

I called the dealer about my late model 16 and they said nothing popped up for my vin and that they had a few people call this week and nothing showed up for anyone yet

I checked with my dealer today and my sled vin is on the list for the ecu flash. Mine is a real late model 16. build date oct 2015. I would think this in one of the latest build dates and mine in on the list. I read the service bulletin, said it was for cold starts and started kick backs. also said ones the flash is done they can put it back the way it was.
As of now it is exactly like SRX Spec said. If dealer updates the YDST tool the flash is available. Your call from there.I called the dealer about my late model 16 and they said nothing popped up for my vin and that they had a few people call this week and nothing showed up for anyone yet

- RTX please don't get me wrong, I'm in no way slamming the dealer I'm with, they've been awesome with me. I bought the sled from a different dealer who shortly there after lost their Yamaha ride and they took me in as if I bought the sled from them. Its all good, the guy running the service knows exactly what I have done to my sled before it went in and I'm positive he would have got in touch with me before they did anything I didn't want them to. (To their defence the flash came out while my sled was at their shop)

Talkng to my dealer, which is also Brian in Hensall, and some might need idle adjustment. Idle had to be higher before as it would seek more.

Ya he did mention something about the idle being low or high....can't remember, talked with him for a good half hour and he overloaded my brain with lots of great info! Great guy by the way. But it was only on the 15s that had the idle problem.

I got the flash. At start up it sounds good Idling at 1700 rpms but slows down to 1450-1500 after a minute or two where it still has the surging idle.

This flash is good news. Very good news. But my only concern is, I have the Hurricane 190 kit and I'm wondering what will I have to change to make this flash work. I know in 2015 Yamaha had a different map from 2014 and I have to figure out how to change the original Hurricane configuration. Hopefully Dave or somebody got this figured out already
