Mine does this now and I think IMO the idle is fine. It's not supposed to change the idle, only the starting issues.
I got the flash. At start up it sounds good Idling at 1700 rpms but slows down to 1450-1500 after a minute or two where it still has the surging idle.

I have the hurricane 190 set up also and was wondering if this would change anything. My sled has always started good even In really cold Temps, it's an early build 16 Ltx le. The only thing that I don't like is the slow speed light throttle surging just after clutch engagement.

I've now called a half dozen dealers in Iowa and talk about being left in the dark. Not sure about you guys but when I speak to a dealership I like the feeling they know more then I do and so far I'm batting strikes.
Thats why more dealers should join this site. This is Yamahas fault. It did not used to be this way. 9 out of 10 times you are the first to know thanks to TY!I've now called a half dozen dealers in Iowa and talk about being left in the dark. Ok, so not trying to open a can of worms here but I wanted some answers. I called Yamaha corporate. It took a few different people to start getting some answers. Again, this is what I was just told as of minutes ago. Per Yamaha corporate no re-flash should be available to a dealership because they are still working on it... I kid you not. This is what I was just told. He did confirm it is coming but hasn't been released. So I ask him will this be a recall. His response was no it will be a tech bulletin not a recall because for it to be a recall it would have to be a problem that could cause harm to the individual. Reason for my call is because when I have been calling dealerships here in Iowa no one has a clue what I'm talking about. So those that claim they got a reflash are you sure it's a new one?

All I can say is, my dealer called me and said they have a new flash for my sled. And to bring it in.

While not official, the new flash is available (at least my dealer has access to it). They have done a few and confirmed that starting is improved and the erratic idle is much improved. I picked up a 14 to ride this winter and am making arrangements to have the new flash done.

Unfortunately this is pretty typical for today's Yamaha. My dealer went to his tech school, he said they would not say when the flash would be avail or what years sleds were included. Honestly this is wearing me out. Thinking new sled next year, will start the decision fresh.Ok, so not trying to open a can of worms here but I wanted some answers. I called Yamaha corporate. I find this interesting to say the least. He actually sounded irrated when I replied with Wisconsin dealership claiming they have the reflash. I too bought a new 2014 leftover knowing it may or may not have the starter issue. Now hearing there is a new flash to hopefully solve it this puts some concern to rest. Just frustrating that many dealers are in the dark on this.

Just got off phone with my dealer. he Said they know about flash and are waiting impatiently. LOL. As soon as he gets it he will put out the calls.
All I can say is Wow! Sure doesnt give a guy a lot of confidence in the new flash if Corporate cant even get thier facts straight with the dealers! on other hand maybe those who are doing the flash early before written release are actually the testers! Good luck with that.

I know you are not unhappy with your service. It sounds like you have a good dealer
- RTX please don't get me wrong, I'm in no way slamming the dealer I'm with, they've been awesome with me. I bought the sled from a different dealer who shortly there after lost their Yamaha ride and they took me in as if I bought the sled from them. Its all good, the guy running the service knows exactly what I have done to my sled before it went in and I'm positive he would have got in touch with me before they did anything I didn't want them to. (To their defence the flash came out while my sled was at their shop)
Im trying to say i would be completely screwed if any dealer ever performed a reflash on my sled without informing me first. Thats all.

Said it before and i will say it again.
Yamaha had 2 shots at this already and screwed it up both times.
Im sticking with my evo reflash.
I really dont understand what was so difficult or took so dam long.
Yamaha has had the nytro programming in thier tiny little hands since 2008
The viper has been messed up since 2014.
How many starters and engines are required to break before yamaha throws in the towel and gives cat the help it so badly needs.
The friggin programming has been there all along, yet we keep playing this game of reflash after reflash after reflash.
Crazy, just friggin crazy
Yamaha Rep for my dealer was questioned yesterday and insists this time it is a Yamaha flash. Same rep also said the RR type skid is no longer produced with a 17 6000R XC right in front of him!Said it before and i will say it again.
