Flash Update Coming Fall-2016

Little more info. The US dealers and maybe other countries have recieved a update to the YDT tool. It is cloud Based now and should be more reliable. Nobody has said it but maybe this will cure the variances experienced after last flash. There is no longer downloading involved so as I understand it the Laptop was the middleman now the middleman is eliminated and the flash and any other info goes right to your sled from Yamaha. This makes me feel much better and I bet it is much more successsful. The computer guys here will hopefully agree since I know very little other than the old system didnt work. I will get the flash as soon as its available now. Tech who just got back from class said flash is coming to us all. This is good news. Couple things from the Update to the diagnostic tool:

That is not the diagnostic program for Vipers though. They use YSDT. YDT is for Sidewinder, 2016+ Vector and Ventures ATV, SXS, and motorcycles.

The first reports from Sweden tells about some cold start issues with the new flash. But when the engine is warm it starts up at once.

This is the way my sled is now, it's hard to start when cold. But once it's warm it fires up instantly! Does the new flash fix this?

Wish they had an option to purchase the new ECU (Mitsubishi) and the wiring like the 17 models at a really discounted price for those that want to have it like the Nytro. Basically, that is what they went back to....

From what I have seen on here the 2017 Viper is still the Cat ECU. SW is Mitsubishi.

Thought I heard somewhere the ECU was changed to the Mitsubishi and the O2 sensor was deleted.

O2 sensor is gone but its still the same ECU with updated programming

After spending 600 to have Evo reflash mine, i am not going to bother reflashing it again
Yamaha had 2 shots at it. They blew it both times.
Im gonna stick with the evo reflash and just hope for the best.
going forward, if i have any major issues with this sled that warranty will not cover ill just let it fall out of the back of my truck and take the insurance money.
Im done with this reflash crap.

Yes, it is available in the USA. The dealer will have to update his YSDT and then should be able to see the new program and upload it into the sled.

I called dealer in North East Iowa last week. He made t sound like any day he would have it. Just now called. He checked his system with me on the phone and claims nothing as of yet. One key thing he did say is per instructions is remove O2 sensor and perform the flash.

Yamaha just today released the ECU flash update in US or in my case WI. The Yamaha service head called my dealer today to notify him and both my horrible starting 2014 Viper and 2015 were updated this afternoon. He said they notably sound better starting and running.

I had mine done today.Cant say I see or hear any real difference.
