Former Yamaha sleds:
2004 Venture 600 2002 SX Viper 700
1997 Vmax 600 SX 1994 Vmax 600 1989 Exciter
1986 Vmax 540 1986 Phaser 1981 SRX 440
I think Cat and Yamaha will be together for some time. Just not a big enough slice of the pie for Yamaha to invest in building there own from scratch at this time IMO. And I think Textron and Cat are good with that since the Yamaha sleds help keep there plant busy and Yamaha still sells a few motors to Cat. I think we will see more Yamaha input on there sleds down the road. I don't think any of us know for sure how much input they have had to this point. I don't see Yamaha sourcing a chassis from Cat as being much different than Cat sourcing engines from Suzuki or Polaris from Fuji in the past. The market has shrunk to a point where it doesn't make sense to invest in a plant for such a small portion. I've been a Yamaha guy since the early 80's and would love nothing more then to have a all Yamaha sled again but at the same time I have no problem telling you my SR Viper is the best overall Yami sled I've ever had. It's been as trouble free as any other sled I've owned and it's ergonomics have allowed me to stay in this sport pain free at the end of the riding day. All manufacturers source parts from all over the world these days to build there products it's up to us to decide what we spend our money on and with the help of this site these YamaCats or what ever you choose to call them have become some of the best sleds around.

I really doubt Yamaha would have ever put a TURBO(!!) on one of their sleds if this sharing agreement had never happened.I think Cat and Yamaha will be together for some time. I know for a fact that it was Cat that wanted to boost the triple more so than Yamaha, and for that, I am forever grateful to Cat.
Also, I talked to my dealer recently and asked if the new Blast was going to be available from Yamaha in the future, and he had no insight to offer there.

20/80 you talk in circles and I'm getting dizzy. I'm lost and have no idea what your talking about enough with this endless argument on the other hand 12 inches of snow on the ground in northern Wi and 6 to 10 more on its way. That is a good thing for the trails but not so good for lakes and swamps. Lakes were just starting to freeze, hopefully the snow will push some water to the top and we'll get some cold weather and freeze things up either way it will not be very good ice. I was out putting some signs up today and there are a lot of trees with snow bend down all over the trails, will definitely take extra work this year to open trails we just got done with clean up from tornado.

20/80 knows what's coming. He talked in circles about the sidewinder before it was introduced.

Your welcome to your opinion which I respect but have no understanding why you jump on my responses just because I bought an Enduro. I won’t be responding to any of your posts again as you are very disrespectful to me and other members. I don’t come here to hassle people just have fun and talk sleds and speculate what could and might happen in the future. Have a good life and bye bye I’m done with you just no point communicating with you.Ya it is directed at you nobody else on here says the stuff you say Textron is Artic Cat and no, textron could not and will not build a hi performance 4st with out contracting it out. Please explain why you think Yamaha won't be with Cat in 2021 you say all this carp and nothing to back it up. Please explain why Yamaha and Cat will not be working together in 2021 or beyond just cause Cat has shown there cards for 2021 and Yamaha hasn't, that don't mean carp guy. Textron will build snowmachines for YAMAHA for a long time to come if it is just the Viper and the Winder who cares. I personally think the Viper is a great sled and would definitely by a new one before I bought into the Ski Don't kool aid with there not so hi performance drive by wire 900 T.

I disrespected you maybe you should go back and read some of your own posts. The only problem is some off you guys can dish it out but can't take it when your called out. I have absolutely no problem with your Ski Don't your the one trying to justify your purchase.

And some Bravos
And some Enticers
I would say Textron would have the tech and money to build a competitive engine or pretty darn close, they have not been convinced that the sled side of Cat is worth a big investment, I would say Cat's sled side of the business is on notice from Textron, its all about money and profit, if Cat cannot produce numbers its over, although Cat was a legend in the snowmobile business over the years they struggled financially, Textron will only go so far before the axe, you closet Cat guy's are saving Cat not Yamaha.
It’s about business cases. For Yamaha to build their own 2s, they usually like to use it in multiple products. The same applies for Cat. It wouldn’t make sense for them to build a 4s engine when Yamaha is building them already. As much as we all like to banter about what we think they should do, they have to run businesses based on data and results, not like that episode where Homer builds the car at his brother’s factory.
I’m skimming details here, and I could be wrong, and I don’t profess to be expert in these matters, but we have to acknowledge that these guys have businesses to run and have to make moves that might not be obvious to us at a consumer level.

Although I’m not a Weber 4s fan primarily due to the Polaris 4s farce. But now Weber is owned by Textron they could fund a multiple use 4s engine for Viper and ATV use. It’s always ROI in or out of house but Textron definitely could replace the NA Viper engine with an in-house 4s engine. I do doubt the development of an in-house turbo SW 4s engine that is one sweet mill. We don’t know why but Textron bought Weber for a reason probably for in-house 4s engine development. It’s about business cases. It would be a bad idea for snowmobiles as the Weber brand name is toxic due to the poor reliability in the Polaris 750, where the Yamaha name is golden when it comes to engines.Although I’m not a Weber 4s fan primarily due to the Polaris 4s farce. Clutchmaster now your telling guys there not riding hard enough that's why there rig is staying together(you must be some kinda racer guy that rides a lot harder than everyone else). Sounds like your really stressed out over some skid wheels and your answer is to install a $3500.00 rear suspension. I don't care what you say all snowmobiles are created the same and are just like a boat(break out another thousand)

This is the #*$&@ I’m talking about ^^^^^^
I shouldn’t have to buy all new wheels for a sled I just paid top dollar for!
500 miles really?

Well that really sucks but your gonna have to spend some more money on some new idler wheels caused it isn't any good the way it is. Kinda like buying a new Corvette and bitching about putting new tires on it. I mean really if I could go spend 20 G'S on a new snowmachine a couple of wheels would be the least of my worries. That's why I'm still driving my 2014 there's no way I'm spending that kinda money on something you only use 8 weeks out of the year, if your lucky.

Wait a minute. Weren't we told these 4-strokes were purpose built for snowmobiles back in the day?
Now all new motors have to be multi-purpose and work for snowmobiles, rototillers, & weed-whackers?

Yamaha has LOTS of money! Jarret did say (like most of us here realize) that they want the engines to work in most of their vehicles...sleds, waverunners, side x sides etc. There’s not many vehicles you can put a 2 stroke motor into other than a sled and make it worth while. But, I think with Yamaha and AC being partners, just maybe Yamaha will build another 2 stroke and sell them to AC. I can possibly see that happening...the AC chassis is great! But a new 800 class Yamaha 2 stroke in that chassis would be the cats A$$!
