I'm a little over 7000 miles on mine, I have one pull thru due to stud pattern utilizing a combo of double and singles. When/if I install a new track it will be all doubles, other than the single pull thru it looks pretty good overall.

Am I pushing this old track too far?

new track and studs is probably $12-1400? but if it ever blew at speed.....

I realize we have different sleds where a tune could potentially factor into when to replace the track, but with these four strokes lasting so long, I have been replacing my tracks, which I do stud, once they reach 10,000 miles. Replaced the RX-1 when it had 11,000mi, the 08 Apex when it had 10,000mi and replaced the 18 last year when it was just shy of 10,000mi. Now, other than my recent track purchase, these tracks were 2-ply so not sure if a 1-ply track can expect to have the same life expectancy of a 2-ply track. I will know soon enough as I am now running the 1-ply Ice Storm 150 on my 18 Apex.

If a stud pulled through, the track is shot! The next stud that pulls out will puncture the heatexchanger, then seize the engine. If you want to run it more, pull all the studs out.

That has been my experience as well. Once one stud pulls out, there will be more to follow.

I had to get towed 150 miles in Northern Quebec when my stud found a home in the heat exchanger. I wouldn't chance it.

My good friend and riding buddy had an Apex LTX with a Yamacharger on it! Dam thing was pretty strong for a maybe 180 hp sled. He put a 1 ply Ice Attack XT which is a1.22” lug height. After watching him simply abuse that track year after year without any damage, I decided to put one on my mildly tuned Sidewinder. It ate lugs pretty quick!

So, on an Apex it just didn’t wear, but on a Winder, no way!

all depends how brave you are and lvl of tune/agression while riding. took a studded track off of a 04 rx war with 12000 mi when it started loosing studs before my brother bought it. found the track 4 years ago in a shed and pulled all the studs as it still was good enough with the studs removed to put on a 1990 et400t/r. still going on that sled.

Bite the bullet and get a new track. If not, as others have said, take out the studs if you don’t want to risk further tear outs and potential damage to the front heat exchanger. Had a couple tear outs (single studs) on my 09 apex two years back and thought i could get away with another year. one row of two double backers tore out and took out the front heat exchanger. Big job to fix……

10000 km is plenty for a track on tuned winder

list what 137 tracks are 2 ply please
looks like all ice tracks are 1 ply
i would like a 1.5 or 1.6 track
thanks
Pretty much all ripsaws are 2 ply save for a few unique ones.

Cobras and storms are 1ply.

I am not an expert on this but if you go to the TracksUSA website and search by track length it shows which 1 and 2 ply tracks are available. It lists the tracks for each size and if you select a track it pulls up detailed information on that track.

Just an observation from looking at Camso and Tracksusa websites

All 2" and over tracks are 1 ply
Most 1.7 and over are 1 ply except for the hurricane
Most 1.5 and below are 2-ply unless they are pre-studded
Almost all pre-studded tracks are 1 Ply

There are of course some exceptions. The Cobra 1.6 is single ply track except for some sizes and the ice-cobra is a 2-ply in 2.52 pitch (136)and single in 2.86 pitch (137)

I am running a casmo storm 1.50 2 ply track.
Going on my 3rd season with it and so far all looks good. 196 studs also.
The ice storm is only one ply.
