Looking for some info and pics on these wheels as I am thinking of purchasing 2 new/used sets.

Due to time constraints I normally only ride locally and at times the snow is marginal to say the least, that is why I am thinking of one set up front and another near the rear?
Thoughts?

(Did a search on here with no luck then googled with better luck but when I went to log in to see some pics, it took me right back to the beginning of this site :o| )

I don't have pics but I put them up front at the curve in the rail. I have all stock wheels...2 of them are original with over 14,000 miles on them. The rest are the accessory catalog ones. I put them on the front due to wearing through my slides on a 1000 miles Quebec trip. Some areas had frozen snow and even though I had scratchers they still wore. I didn't have the scratchers down all the time though. I put the wheels right where the sliders wore the most. Easy install. I have heard that the wheels don't last long. Makes sense as they will be spinning twice as fast as the other wheels. I plan on taking them off and regreasing them periodically to get more life out of them. Worked for my other wheels! I can take some pics if you want.

Thanks guy's, looking to put both sets on the outer side of the rails, guess some drilling may be in order?

I have replaced all my bogies with new Yamaha ones, including the 4th wheel kit out back(all with replaceable bearings) but I did notice the rear ones when the skid is sitting flat on the ground don't make contact with the ground??
This is the area I notice a lot of wear(as well as the front at the curve) so this is why I want 2 sets.

I have also heard loosening the track more than the Yamaha spec can/will cause the upper shock mount to make contact and gouge the track?
Seen a mod where someone actually put a bearing there(would like to see that again) I have also seen Dan's mod where a small piece of pipe was welded on the skid to help stop this from happening.

You can get the track rub kit from Ulmer, $ 25.00, Pioneer has them also, same price.
Go to Ulmers website, look under accessories. It has a picture of it, and one showing it installed. I am happy with mine.

Thanks, that's the one I want ;)!

I bought the wheel kit that goes on the middle of the rails. I have the replaced some of them with the new spoke yamaha wheels. I got my wheel kit off ebay for $65 shipped. the hifax wear to a certain point then stop.

I have heard, (not saying it will in your case) that putting them in between the rails will shorten their life drastically, any truth to that?

Also, (just thinking out loud here) but is it possible to add 2 sets to a 121" skid, is there enough room/clearance out back to do this?
(sorry for the newb questions)

I have read that small wheel kits from other than Yamaha self destruct fairly fast. The Yamaha ones also eventually suffer the same fate, just not as quickly. You just have to realize that being small like that, they will spin incredibly fast at high speed. Unfortunately, there aren't any bigger wheel kits that will work at the front rail arch. I don't think it matters whether they are mounted inboard or outboard of the rail. The pressures and speeds will be the same.

I have seen some setups where these wheels were installed mid-back of the skid on the inside.

I've run my wheels for only 800 Km and I'm not a speed demon so I can't say how long they would last on my setup.

Definitely going to get at least one set for the front, still deciding/finding out if the rear ones are going to work (have room for?) on a 121" skid?

I also found out from the previous owner that the slides I took off were the originals, he had 2100 miles on them so that is good to hear!

Thanks for the info ;)!

I tried the Yamaha Marginal kit, just in the rear. 1 disappeared the first ride. The other disappeared, on the 2nd ride. Make sure to use RED locktite, when bolting them to the rail. I have a friend, that ran them front and rear, on his '05 Vector. Within a few thousand miles, the bearings siezed and wore the wheels off. He had better luck, with ice scratchers.

Thanks for the info, I will definitely use loc-tite when I get some, If I still can?
I no longer see them listed in www.yamaha-motor.ca (CDN)? Hopefully Yamaha didn't discontinue them?

I added the fix wheel kit (x2) to my nytro and they are still in excellent shape after over 7000 kms (the second owner still hasn't had to replace them yet).
