You can put this in General if ya like. Just thought it would get seen more here!

What a poorly written piece of legislation. This is someone twisting themselves into a pretzel to allow some muffler modifications while attempting to appease some specific set of complaints or they lack any technical knowledge at all and are just trying to describe a problem. Putting a subjective measure into a legal document just means that you can get away with almost anything. Its like saying 'You shouldn't beat your wife badly" or "trout from these waters should be generally dark in color but sometimes with blue or green highlights" :o|:o|:o|

Iam not a fan of Loud exhaust as I get older but, Iam definitely not a fan of more regulations from local, state, or Federal governments. And especially no leadway for prior existing sleds. Whats next Fireworks ???

They need to stick to sound levels and test with proper equipment on SNOW. Clear cut number for sound limits. Surely they are enforcing this law on road ways ? Like Harley Davidsons? Surely! So winter time everyone has windows closed, then summer they open them and listen to loud #*$&@ Harley Davidsons/rice burners with AFTERMARKET exhaust? Total BS. Im not against ANY bikers anywhere ,but they sure get free passes here in WI when it comes to sound levels.

This state is getting ridiculous. I am all for not losing trails, but not if it means the man is pushing his thumb down on the people.

Well, this is what happens when people cannot manage themselves. Guys running around with cans that actually make the sound worse, more resonant, and simply louder, and probably those same guys not respecting the trail systems. Honestly, back in the day when sleds were anemic I understood the whole chasing power at any expense attitude, been there, done that, but these days its perfectly possible to make a reasonably quiet and still quicker than you will ever need machine.

Problem here in Minnesota is the same cops who pull you over for loud sleds will look the other way when the extremely loud and annoying Harleys are out in the summer and I hear way more of them than sleds for sure. To be clear, I don't have any loud sleds except a vintage yamaha that I only use for vintage poker runs and never get hassled for it then. I do have a 1998 MXZ 670 with MBRP Trail can on it, not loud though.
